The Audio Fidelity is not the best version for me. It lacks some of the heft and presence of other pressings, including vinyl.

My favourite [oddly not on this list, maybe it was released later] is the 2015 Analogue Productions SACD mastered by Kevin Gray. It contains the best versions of both the original mono and the great stereo mix.

Is that 2015 a hybrid SACD? And is it still in print?

In print? I don't know. But copies can be still had for $30.

Steve's MONO vinyl on 1993 DCC is amazing. The way it should be enjoyed!!

The first choice is the Capital mono pressing. We should ignore, as the thread starter has, the hideous rechanneled stereo on Capital. I found a copy, bought it, listened, and immediately dumped it for a buck.

    Thanks

Can you share a bit on how the stereo on the AP compares with the MFSL?

Yes. I don't understand how this can be missing from the list.

The MFSL sounds mellower, more subdued. I like the bit more bite of the Analogue. Of course, if you prefer the mellower kind of sound, you might like the MFSL more. But I personally prefer the way Kevin Gray handled this album.

Thanks, I will check out the MFSL again when I can. I find that many of the newer MFSL SACDs sound too mellow to me at first but in time they grow on me.

One more thing that I think that the on Analogue has more over the MFSL. Midrange presence.

All analog records seem to have this by design because of carrying more accurate information in the listening range....barring poor mastering outliers.

None of the above; this, however, is the gold standard for any and ALL box sets that pretend to represent a single album:

The analogue pressing..so fine. Numbered edition--kinda rare now? Got it! A masterful mix by Steve!

I got mine mint and as I am sure people are annoyed to hear again, I trasferred high res to bluray.

I can tell you with all the highest praise, the sound is simply amazing and the HD version sounded too wide/bright...all that, in comparison.

This release is so pure because I have read that is closer to the master because the brothers took over and repressed with no processing like the original.

Now I am curious as to why the DCC vinyl gets almost as much love as the 2fer?

I know these things have been discussed here ad nauseum, but hey, whats one more time?
