First of all can I please say: I get that a lot of people don't like Phil Collins. This thread is for people who do, so your opinions about how you'd rather stick nails in your eyeballs than watch one of the man's gigs are duly noted but unnecessary here.

Also the first person to post that flipping Patrick Bateman American Psycho quote gets a slap around the face with a wet kipper.

ANYWAY- press conference just now at which Phil anncounced some dates in June 2017 in London, Cologne (Köln) and Paris.

    More news to follow, hopefully!

His son Nicolas will be on drums.

Way to go, Phil! I would have preferred the tour to be called No Coffin Required, though...

    Great news.
Presumably, Daryl Stuermer and Nathan East will be with him.

 brilliant. I bet he would have used that if you could have told him earlier in the year!

That would be cool but I wouldn't assume anything to be honest. I'd be shocked if it wasn't Daryl but Nathan didn't play on the last couple of tours, I don't think...

Just in time for Glastonbury, maybe the Sunday "Legends" slot?

Yeah, there does seem to be a gaggle here, who believe it's absolutely hilarious to repeatedly quote those lines. Almost as witty as "get off my lawn."

So how good does Nicolas play the drums ? I know he is the son of a legend but that doesnt always equate to greatness. Hopefully Phil is well enough to bring his tour to the States soon enough

I have to return some video tapes right now, but just cool it with the anti-American Psycho quote remarks ok?

When did his autobiography come out?

Is it kind of a weird tip of the hat to David Bowie and Prince?

Nathan did the US Open show, though, didn't he? That bodes well, that he'll retain that band.

This is good news. Phil has been troubled by ill health these past few years so I guess the number of concerts will be quite limited initially, but hopefully that for-mentioned Glastonbury Sunday afternoon "Legend" slot will be included .
The autobiography is released in the UK this coming Thursday (20th) in hardback and also via Audible narrated by the man himself due on the same day. Hopefully it won't suffer a last minute delay like the Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run audio has.

Good for him. I think his self-imposed retirement didn't do him much good.

A pity that he can't play drums though. I can't help but think of him as a drummer who sings.

Great news. This means Mr. Collins is getting better. It's a shame that one of the greatest drummers cannot play anymore but at least he's going to perform and sing again in front of an audience. This is awesome; good luck for this new adventure to a great artist. And I stress the word "artist".

Nathan playing with EC at RAH in May so I doubt he will be with Phil.

Yep, Genesis-News.com are reporting that Daryl, Nicolas, Leland Sklar and Brad Cole will all be in the band (not sure whether that came from the press conference as I missed the first half of it.)

On that note, did anyone else watch it? He still seems like a sad and broken man to me. This should have been about him announcing that he was back and reminding everyone how great he is, but aside from a few little self-deprecating jokes he seemed quite uncomfortable and wishing he wasn't there.

I just hope he can find a bit of his happiness and stage charisma in time for these dates, as the last time I saw him (2007 Genesis tour) he seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else, and any attempts at audience banter fell really flat,

I was lucky to be at the Manchester concert and have the "When in Rome" DVD and felt the exact opposite to what you have said.
I thought the way Phil interacted with the crowd made the concert(s) for me anyway. 10/10
    Strange.
