I'm not a huge Phil Spector nut or anything but I saw this used CD today; "TWIST AND SHOUT: 12 ATLANTIC TRACKS PRODUCED BY PHIL SPECTOR". It was am Atlantic Japaneese release. Anyone have it? Is it any good quality-wise? Thanks, Dan
It’s interesting if you’re a Spector completest, the original singles are quite rare. You get to hear “Hey Memphis” by Lavern Baker which shares the melody as Elvis’ “Little Sister” (Both Pomus – Shurman composisitions) and the orginal version of “Twist & Shout” which does not share the same arrangement as the Isley Bros. version and was considered “butchered” by Spector’s arrangement. The disc is all mono but because of the Atlantic fire, the tracks will probably not sound any better than this. This title was released on vinyl in the UK but only saw release in Japan on CD. I would grab it if you have interest in Spector because you may not see it again at a reasonable price!
