Not heading to Curveball, but enjoying the DwD from Austin, and the rest of the show. Man, I can't believe I'm coming around to Steam. This show is the tour debut of the vacuum cleaner solo.
What's up guys? I'm back after a bit. What do you guys think of Round Room and Undermind? Also why did they reform Phish for 2.0 only to can it 1 1/2 years later?! Was it strictly because of Trey's drug problems or was it just totally separate from that.
I need to revisit it, but Round Room to me is half good/half bad. Don't like the songs Round Room, Mexican Cousin, Friday and Mock Song. I like Pebbles and Marbles, 46 Days, Walls of the Cave and Waves.
Aside from drug issues, I've always thought that Trey wanted to try his hand at a solo career while putting Phish to bed. Despite all its success, I think he viewed Phish as a "joke band" on some level, and wanted to be seen as a more serious musician.
I’m rather stunned by this interview - never seen it before - because logic says it’s from 2004-ish (correct me if wrong), yet Trey is lucid, sensitive, warm, intelligent, appears healthy, sober etc etc. He’s a very appealing person. I love his enthusiasm.
Ok wow, I guess I like almost all of Round Room then, will pull it out and give it a spin here. I love Mock Song and RR, just classic Mike. I remember Mex and Fri as being very raw and visceral, maybe some bum notes or voices, but solid pieces ... the other ones you gave thumbs up I agree on
Pretty much agree except that I do like Mexican Cousin. Round Room seemed very half baked and until Big Boat was my least favorite Phish studio album. Undermind, on the other hand, which I held off on buying for almost a decade due to the not so great taste Round Room left in my mouth, is actually one I like quite a bit. Probably my favorite studio album since Billy Breathes. The songs seem mature and not as hokey as some of Phish's attempts at being more serious sometimes come off. I am probably an outlier in my opinion of Undermind.
I can't get enough of that "It's Ice" 7/23/17 from the Bakers Dozen run. They also have a video on thier official Phish YouTube page.
Sooo sorry for everyone involved. I wasn't even going and am feeling emotional about it. Hope there are no lasting effects on the band / community.
Was *this* close to attending with my friend who had tickets, a big Phish-head. Thought he'd be devastated, but he's also a professor of public health, so he said he gets it.
I have local (and distant) friends that had to bail... Ironic downstream effects... But phish won’t be undermined, for long...
