I admit it was a tough call between Time Out Of Mind and "Love And Theft" in my Dylan list...

Yes (hard to nail down just 3, but if we’re being super broad...)

    Close to the Edge
    90125
    The Ladder

If I was allowed more albums, I would add Yes, Drama, AWBH, and Fly From Here.

Really spot-on list(s). That's pretty much exactly how I would have picked them.

Well, my all-time favorite is James Brown, so it's a mixture of album and 45's:

Live At The Apollo (nice summary of James' early rhythm & blues/soul period).
Papa's Got A Brand New Bag (there are very few genres where you exactly can pin down its beginnings, but there's no doubt funk music started in 1965 with the release of this single).
Sex Machine (not my favorite track, but it's James Brown's most iconic funk jam).

    Poco:

    Good Feeling to Know
    Head Over Heels

    (In general), probably:
    Pickin Up the Pieces
    Good Feeling to Know
    Legend
