smilin ed: Looking at your blog you seem to be a Jim Garner fan, so this one's for you. Jack Garner, James Garner, and rarely photographed oldest brother Charles Bumgarner -- Norman Oklahoma, July 1973
The Animals with Cyril Ritchard (as The Wolf, here in disguise as Grandma) in the televison musical The Dangerous Christmas Of Red Riding Hood (1965). With music by the legendary Broadway composer Jule Styne (Gypsy), The Dangerous Christmas Of Red Riding Hood stars Liza Minnelli and Vic Damone.
Rare publicity still for "The American", a TV play (aired March 27, 1960) starring Lee Marvin as Iwo Jima flagraiser Ira Hayes. Note it was shot in NY rather than Hollywood. The producer-director was John Frankenheimer. It was written by Merle Miller, who wrote in detail about the production in his classic book Only You Dick Daring!, a must read for anyone interested in the inner workings of early TV. I believe "The American" still exists and has been screened in NYC within the last few years. Unfortunately it is not available on home video.
A very rare pic of Dennis Hopper (extreme right, hand on railing), as a Titanic passenger in the unaired Time Tunnel pilot. All scenes with Hopper were deleted from the print that was eventually aired.
Julie Andrews, Walt Disney and P.L. Travers at the Hollywood premiere of Mary Poppins (August 27, 1964):
Rare photo of Allan "Rocky" Lane (circled), the voice of Mr. Ed, with the show's stars Connie Hines and Alan Young (second and third from left) along with various executives. Lane was uncredited while the series was in production (in contemporary interviews the producers were always coy about who did the voice), and for some years thereafter.
Roy Rogers, King Of The Cowboys, meets Irving Klaw (that's his son on Roy's lap), king of the bondage/fetish photographers and immortalizer of Bettie Page.
Here's this week's collection: http://fridaynightboys300.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/friday-night-boy-cool-317.html Arguably my favourite (though topless, dancing Goucho is hrad to beat):
The First Mary Poppins: Mary Wickes played P.L. Travers' celebrated nanny on CBS-TV's Studio One in 1949.
On the day Kaley Cuoco (Penny from The Big Bang Theory) received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she went to pay tribute to her former TV dad....
The Hitchcock picture was one of a series taken in one sitting with the crows. I had the one Rolling Stone used in '76--a gorgeous color shot with arms spread, festooned with crows and one 'on his head' (actually, a platform that you could slightly see).
Bruce Lee practicing Tai Chi with his father. Hong Kong, late 1950s: Mike Stone, James Coburn, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, c 1969: James Coburn and Steve McQueen as pallbeaers at Bruce Lee's funeral, July 1973:
