To each his own, I like Louder Than Words and think it's on the same level as most of The Division Bell.

I personally love TDB, it has a few dodgy moments but there is some fantastic music on there.
Marooned, Lost for Words, Keep Talking, High Hopes, Wearing the Inside Out are all fine songs IMO.

    It's much better than AMLOR

I'm not interested in meta. It's usually used to cover up a weak argument.

News Flash: Criticizing an album you haven't heard is the weakest argument of all.

It´s only 2,5 Stars but when you read it it feels like ***1/2

We bitch and we fight. Diss each other on sight.

Sounds like David or Polly have been checking out the internet Floyd discussions.

Yo Yo man, this is a diss track...
When I first heard those lyrics I cringed...wheres the "eiderdown" Dave?

Eider down was pretty much a Syd thing, notwithstanding the Pillow of Winds.

...and not even their harshest diss track. The eiderdown and overhead albatrosses went away a while ago. "**** all that!" too quote Not Now John. Or, maybe I should say "Stuff all that!" like my 45 does.

See also Roger's "Julia Dream". Floyd was all about the eider down back then.

As a self-described Pink Floyd album for the new millennium I'd say he left it behind with the paisley shirts and incense.

Andy Jackson actually confirmed this - and I had never heard about this before: Apparently The Division Bell should have been a double album with one half vocal and one half instrumental, but they spent so much time working on the first part that they just dropped the idea at that time.

This thread is so long that I don't know if this has been posted before, but the third snippet () sounds very promising to me.

Oh, wow - I never knew that.

I mean, I knew the bulk of this album was meant to be a fan-club release called "The Big Spliff", but I had no idea TDB was to be a double!

Yes, it was. They ran out of time to complete the second half of it because of tour commitments.

Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be open to hearing the record and make sure to tell us he's wrong if it's good. I'd bet on it.

There seems to be an awful lot of confusion on this point. From what I understand, Endless River features virtually nothing from "The Big Spliff", apart from a couple of the bonus tracks on the DVD. It is not clear to me exactly how serious the band was about releasing The Division Bell as a double album back in the 90s, but what we're getting next month likely bears little resemblance to what we would have gotten back then.
