Yes, I agree with this. I mean if they're flying in some of Rick's synths anyway, I don't see why they wouldn't include this too. It's definitely a nice intro to the piece.

The early 1987 shows had some really good long intros from Rick on OTTA and additional sync sound effects on the intro to LTF

It's just an amazing song :)
Actually I would love to hear Gilmour do it with a full orchestra and choir! Lots of voices for the last verse. Could sound amazing if done right.
Btw did anyone spot the On The Turning Away reference in live renditions of Gilmours In Any Tongue :)

  4. Why yes. "On The Turning Away" could definitely sound great with a choral arrangement...

If done right I said ;) lol
This probably sounds a lot better on a proper stereo setup than on my phone, but it surely lacks the rawness of Gilmours voice and guitar.
I'm thinking of him doing a version similar to the 2001 live version of Coming Back To Life with added strings. I love the choir of that version. There is a choir only version as a bonus on the DVD.

I know I'm in a minority, but tbh I never really liked OTTA. Dunno why, but it's never 'clicked' with me. I do love LTF and YAM though.

IMHO the whole album it great and gets better for each listen. To be honest I didn't like it much at first listen but it has just grown on me over the years just like good music tend to do.
Can't wait to hear the new mix and 5.1!!

If the official announcement lags a bit, perhaps we can hope that the list of contents is not yet perfectly stabilized.
So, at the risk of being redundant, several members of my family and I would appreciate:

    AUDIO:

One or more versions of "Echoes" 87
    On the run 88
The great gig in the sky 88
    Welcome to the machine 88
The missing live titles of AMLOR
    Marooned 29 and / or 30 August 1994
The long 20-minute noise introduction of 94
Studio and concert rehearsals if there are untapped ideas or musical risk-taking.
An external recording made with well placed electrostatic microphones of 87 or 88 or 89 and 94

    VIDEO :

    Atlanta 87
Versailles 88 (a DIY with the few pictures shot, even if it's only a few minutes)
    Reports and documentaries

    AMATEUR VIDEO:

Marseille 89 "One slip" and "Run like hell", with Guy Pratt in underpants and, Gary Wallis and his assistant playing percussion.
Any good editing of songs played in concert with a good sound.

    We can always dream...

I think what I have read was that he recorded a hammond solo (for the studio version) that was never used. I always assumed that was to be in the middle of the song.

I also love the live intro on Delicate Sound Of Thunder but I think that was something he improvised and slightly changed from night to night?

Yeah, it's an endless river. Just one slip and you're lost for words.
    We should keep talking!

Ah ok. Well we can hope they use one of the live intros then. It just add something special to the song.

I agree, and to me that particular intro from Delicate Sound Of Thunder made such an impact on the 12-13 year old version of myself that I can hum it if I like.

My hope is that the album version of Delicate Sound of Thunder will have the complete setlist, including the songs omitted from the original release. Or at least include them as bonus.

It's back to the 60s with today's PF post.

I'm gonna need one of these, for sure: :chill:

  17. Lord help me, I may even have to look for some more goofy videos with Dave from the Later Years era.

I'd dearly hoped the two I provided over the weekend would be enough, in the face of a near complete dearth of any official info or even any new spoilers. And now I'm faced with the deeper question: Are there enough goofy videos of Dave to make it through until some kind of an official announcement?

I wonder if we'll have a peek inside the Donkey's Knob even though, according to various reports, Floyd members didn't actually perform there. It seemed like a funny place to hang out :)
