does anyone now if they multi track recorded the "dark side of the moon" concert, that currently only exists as a soundboard?

it would be a fantastic live show to issue, if it could be mixed properly

sound quality is excellent otherwise. but I find the background vocals annoyingly loud, and a proper mix would really do this show justice

It sure sounds like one and that Echoes encore is awesome!!

But you're listening to it on a bootleg or on the Dark Side boxset?
I think it was remixed for the boxset. Sounds better to me.

Well it has been issued, officially*, and it sounds fantastic. But I don't know if it has been remixed or not.

*Shine on you, Raving and drooling, You gotta be crazy are on the Wish you were here box set.
*The dark side of the moon is on the Dark side box set.
*Echoes is on the bonus CD inside the big Early Years box set.

I'd definitely pay for this to be a stand-alone release of the whole show....

This should be a standalone release

2 CD with the COMPLETE performance
Blu Ray with stereo and 5.1

I'd pay the big dollars for a really great transfer to vinyl.

The 2CD "Experience" editions of those albums also include these performances.

oh, thanks everyone. I had no idea they had released any of the show

too bad they cut it up; I think the complete show might have been a better idea; unless it was just recorded direct off the soundboard & it's not possible to mix anything

which could explain why it was chopped up & issued as bonus tracks instead?

I have a burned CD here labelled " pre-FM BBC radio broadcast" which I assume sounds better than a recording of the broadcast

    The off-air DSOTM was good.
The pre-FM was clearly better, especially when the Echoes encore emerged too.
The official releases listed by Zongadude above are easily the best available.
It's a pity that so far it's only available on 16-bit CDs.
I would have liked 24-bit, so maybe that gives an opportunity for a "complete performance" release.
I have made a set-list from my ripped CDs to replicate the complete performance.

Don’t forget the material prepared for broadcast (DSOTM and Echoes) is from the 16Nov show, while much of the multitracked stuff on the box sets etc is from the 15Nov (the first set plus DSOTM from Money to Eclipse). So you need both.

It's not cut up, it's complete....you just have to piece it together. Some Grateful Dead things have happened this way as well. It's true that casual fans will not have done this. It's a fantastic thing to have, most of all for the early alternate takes on the Animals material which almost have an avant garde dystopiain feel,
but it's certainly not top shelf live PF, which arguably Pompeii gets much closer to (I know, lol....it's not even live). With Pompeii you actually do have cuts and edits and it is pretty frustrating. Surely Echoes could have been made complete or fused somehow.

  13. I'd buy that instantly. Lots of other people who don't own the immersion sets or simply do not want to cut and paste the whole thing together would do so as well.

I've always understood that all the BBC recordings and PF official releases were from the same night on the 16th, so I checked the ever-authoritative Wikipedia:
Live at the Empire Pool - Wikipedia
I have a recording from the 15th, however I thought that was from a "dry-run" by the BBC, and not used for any of the broadcasts or official releases.

Oh how I would love that !!
Having three sides with just one composition on 'em adds to the pleasure :)
Maybe for an RSD release one day ?

Looks good. I would probably expand to 4LP and put both Raving & Crazy on their own sides. Maybe an etched side or spread out some of the shorter DSOTM tracks onto more sides.

    DSOTM Immersion
16th - Speak To Me, Breathe, On The Run, Time, The Great Gig In The Sky

    Yes that’s right.

There are a few small patches to cover mistakes on the 16th (eg some feedback in Time, Waters’ mistake towards the end of Echoes) and the piano intro to Great Gig is from an unidentified source IIRC. The bass drum from the 15th was unrecorded so was recreated using a sample. Plus some sound effects were added eg. A heartbeat in the intro to Time which was on the LP but was never featured as a live effect.

I have a bootleg which says the same thing on the cover and I tell you: the official releases sound better. I bet it was not just remastered but remixed.
