Playing music from thumb drives, memory sticks, etc in car?

    My ride is a 2014 Nissan Maxima Premium Sport Package with technology group. The USB stick will not play, says its reading on the nav. display however it plays in my parents MB, lady friends Jeep and other sources. Read the Nissan destruction manual and still doesn't work....

    I'm deliberately using only 4 Gig units on the theory I shouldn't overtax any system :)

    Many of the posts remind me of something I found while researching this :

    "Unfortunately, car electronics are a mess, it is not just Fiat.
    On this weeks Top Gear UK episode Jeremy Clarkson basically said the same thing." (I gather Clakson is a British car reporter)

    I don't understand half of the communications/entertainment features in new vehicles. :(

    Skoda Octavia with Bolero radio here.
    I use a 32gb SD card (class 10) and it's recognised within 4 to 5 seconds.

    I'm tempted to upgrade to the latest model since it has a Canton sound system available and supports FLAC playback. But i lack the funds right now :(
