The Reversing red/black speaker wires. Polarity vs. Phase... thread is fascinating. In that light, would everyone chime in on their favorite test lp, cd, handheld meters, etc? TIA!
After many years, I still use The Digital Domain that came out eons ago (don't know if it's still available). I have a couple of Test CDs, but keep returning to this one for some of the sound samples on it. As to the point of phase inversion recently discussed, the truth is that no audiophile worth his salt wouldn't be testing every disk he owns and logging the results. It might end up being a real pain in the a$$ to get up and switch your speaker leads with every recording you play, but I do hear notable differences on every recording I own.
I use the "My Disc" The Sheffield/A2TB test disc. Works just fine and is half the cost of say the MFSL test cd.
Those phase tests seem equivical at best. I have the Stereophile 1 & 2. On another note, I like the Chesky Ultimate Demo Disc. GREAT SOUND QUALITY!
Been shopping. Found the Sheffield My Disc at Best Buy, here. The only other place I was able to find something was at Crutchfield, the Audiosource LLC5, which seems to be a much simpler disc than the Sheffield. Where do you guys shop? I've been online to 800.com, BestBuy, Buy.com, CircuitCity, OadeBros, Outpost, com, RadioShack, and SoundAdvice. And this was all I found. Something tells me I haven't scratched the surface of audiophile equipment available. Like the handheld 'meter' FabFourFan was discussing.
Pigmode, HZ and Humorem had some comments on the Chesky disc, check the Reversing red/black speaker wires. Polarity vs. Phase... thread.
