Excellent suggestion! One of the finest thrillers ever made. Every aspect of this film is just perfect ... from the acting to the sets to the directing and writing. One of the most satisfying finales I've ever seen. I've watched this movie many times and always enjoy it thoroughly.

The best femme fatale entrance of any noir film ever. Took me about 5 seconds to fall completely in love with Peggy Cummins!

The super long take of the bank robbery scene ... with no cuts ... is justifiably legendary.

Sorcerer (1980) also The Wages Of Fear (1953) of course. In this case I am also recommending the remake, my favorite Friedkin movie. In most every case we should specify that we are not recommending the remake with the same title so no one is led astray.

Bound (1996) or, as in this case, an unrelated, staggering stinkbomb from 2015.

Some great suggestions, to which I'd like to add The Red Dragon--part of the Hannibal Lecter franchise.

Just watched a very good one called Upgraded. An action-thriller with a detective-ish intrigue.

Watched Marathon Man the other day, still a great thriller. Apparently Al Pacino was interested in playing Thomas Babbington, but Hoffman beat him to it.

To add a couple from across the pond (in each direction):

"The Long Good Friday"; excellent crime-thriller/character study with Bob Hoskins in his first starring role and Helen Mirren as his 'woman'; "British" in the best sense, and a cracking story.

From Australia, "The Interview", starring Hugo Weaving, about a man being interrogated for a crime he may or may not have had a part in. Simple, tense and beautifully acted.

If you’re okay with subtitles - Diabolique and The Wages of Fear - and take a look at the Italian giallo genre
