Indeed I do! They are a band that will work their butts off to make sure you dance yours off.

I assume they have a few among their fans, but I don't know any specifically.

They've in Australia at the moment, playing music, making friends and fishing. (Rev needs to write a column for a fishing magazine, as he's been in 35 different countries to date and - as far as I know - caught fish in every one of them.)

They're good people, tour harder than anyone I know and will entertain the hell out of an audience.

The secret to enjoying Maron's WTF is skipping the 20 minutes of preliminary wanking soliloquy before the interview proper begins.

He’s also the successor to Larry “No Preparation” King in sometimes embarrassing himself by not doing his homework. But he’s often a great interviewer and his ability to get big stars is starting to rival Howard Stern.

Not music related, but his new episode with Jennifer Lawrence was delightful.

Seen a couple of recommendations for Tabletop Genesis here and would like to back them up- this is a really great podcast for the Genesis fan; 5 guys and girls sitting round a table going through Genesis and solo albums song by song, with great factual information, opinions and a nice dose of silly humour.

(Not that the fact that two of the hosts are really good friends of mine means that I’m in any way biased... :D)

I just listened to an absolutely amazing podcast. It was, again, the Rialto Report, but it was about this character Neville Chesters, seen here playing guitar for Jimi Hendrix:

It turns out this guy, who attracted the podcast's attention because he had a studio shooting adult videos later in his career started out as a roadie for The Merseybeats in Liverpool, then worked with The Who, the Bee Gees, Cream, Mick Jagger, Apple Records, Robert Stigwood, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Lemmy!

The whole first hour and fifteen minutes of the podcast is all about music, and the only thing you might find offensive is the name of some of the titles of the adult videos his studio produced - and maybe a few of his stories about groupies. Oh, and the name of his studio/loft.

I put the link in a spoiler tag:

How Jimi Hendrix's Roadie became a Porn Producer Podcast 77 - The Rialto Report

...oh, and while he saw The Beatles at the Cavern Club, he wasn't that impressed with them.

The Steve Miller episode of the Questlove Supreme on Pandora from January is a MUST LISTEN.

Crazy stories about Les Paul, Lightning Hopkins, Muddy Watters, The Beatles, gangster record companies, shady promoters, why he was so upset at the RRHOF and much more.

they've had some great stuff, fascinating look at the gritty 70s adult film world, and great interviewing style

I met this guy at a Who show once. Very slight and elf like in appearance but told me some great stories!

I love his style. Too many podcasts don't even ask questions - they just say "Talk about..." which is terrible form. There is a great interview with Ashley West, the host of the Rialto Report, about his podcast on the Supporting Players one.

Their other music-oriented one is a two part one about Andrea True. They have the demo version of More More More, and compare it to the final mix, and it's a wonderful example of just how much difference a talented mix engineer can make.

    2 new ones I've found:

Disgraceland - on the dark side of music, only a few shows so far but promising. Has covered
Jerry Lee Lewis and the strange death of his 3rd or 4th wife, a Sid and Nancy episode, and the latest i just listened to this AM about the murder of Sam Cooke.

Required Listening - from the Grammy organization I think ... live interviews with major players in front of and behind the mike on music and craft... Clive Davis, Dr. Dre, Jimmy Ivoine, Dan Auerbach, highly recommended

    I'll recommend a couple:

Supercontext: not strictly a music podcast (they do movies, TV shows, comics, etc.), but they've had some great music-related episodes since they started a couple years ago, include ones on Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Iggy Pop's The Idiot, David Bowie's Blackstar, Dischord Records, Guided by Voices, The Melvins, David Byrne, Johnny Cash's American Recordings series, and a bunch more. As their name suggests they take a broad approach, looking at "how it got made," the artist(s)'s creative process, the distribution/sales, all sorts of interesting stuff. I highly recommend it in general--it's one of my favorite podcasts.
    Supercontext: an autopsy of media

Self-Inflicted Aural Nostalgia: a new podcast that's only about 5 episodes in, this one is going through each Guided by Voices album one episode at a time. If you're a fan of the band (or are even mildly interested in them) I recommend this one too. He discusses the band's story (kind of "where they were at") in relation to each album, what was going on in the indie rock scene at the time, and does a track-by-track commentary of each record.

Respectfully disagree about skipping the beginning of WTF.
I like the "wanking soliloquy" portion.
The uninitiated might want to try it before dismissing it.

Cocaine and Rhinestones concerns itself with getting the narrative and facts straight about the many stories and histories in 20th century country music. The Buck Owens/Don Rich two parter is a great way to start!

Finders Keepers Radio if you like folk, psych, soundtracks, jazz, psychedelic soul, rare records.

Stage left podcast and sodajerker if you like the behind the scenes stuff, again, some top notch guests.

Hip hop saved my life, funny podcast about hip hop from a uk centric angle.

I highly recommend all of these.

That’s great to hear Chris, there’s a wide range of stuff on there, I’m sure you’ll find something to enjoy. I’ve really been enjoying podcasts in general over the past 10 years or so, more than music at times to be honest, although I’ve just bought a new MP3 player in order to rectify than hehe

Don’t know if you’re iTunes but here’s a quick link to this day in music

May I also recommend the Adam Buxton podcast, he has a wide range of guests, highlights include Brian Eno, Adam Curtis, Marc Riley, Johnny Marr, Johnny Greenwood and Marc Maron.

Also the Bowie Wallow is really great for Bowie fans.

Slightly off topic, but only kinda.
A question for those that actually make and publish music podcasts.
Is there any money in it?
Are there any fees associated other than the actual costs of production gear?
ASCAP, BMI fees? Royalty fees? Licensing fees?

I imagine you would need to pay some kind of PRS/ASCAP fee to do a legit podcast. I’m not sure how well the sponsorship works, I wonder if there is a scale dependent on average amount of listeners.

I've not done much with them because I don't drive, and spend most of my time on public transit reading. But I've recently been helping my brother fix up a house he'll be moving into, and I had to manually dig not one, but two 40' long ditches to bury electrical conduit to get power to the garage. He liked the first ditch so much, he asked me to extend it to the shed as well. Since I faced a couple of days of mindless labor, podcasts seemed the perfect solution.

I'm on Android, but found it via Pocket Casts.

    Thank you.

Great stuff, I’m in a similar boat, non driver and I work from home quite a bit, they’re really useful when you’re doing something somewhat boring. I also find I enjoy music more now, as it’s more like a special treat when I do, rather than having it on for the sake of it.

My old friend Randy Raley does a streaming music station from his home, and took the interesting step of starting a 501(c)3 non-profit to be able to host it and play music without having to pay commercial rates. He can't do any ads, but the cost is no more than a modest hobby.

I'm a big fan of U Talkin' U2 To Me?

They cover the basics like.....how many band members there are..... the band members names..... and best of all, they talk exclusively about u2 and u2 only.
