That's it. Fillable is great. Height adjustable is great. Three point base is great.

    7.5 x 16" base on the speakers.

Paradigm makes some nice stands for the money, and some are fillable for stability, but are fixed height. J-23 & S-22 are the closest to 24" by the looks of things.

If you go custom, then you can have anything imaginable.

I think Louis uses Sound Anchors, although I believe they are factory filled rather than DIY.

I have a couple of Sanus "Steel foundations" 26" to which I have bolted PSB Alpha B1 monitors.

    Either Skylan or Sanus Ultimate.

Noel at Skylan is a great to work with and his stands are top notch. He will custom size the top/bottom plates and the height.

Yup. Or kitty litter, or Noel's new proprietary fill.

I'm on month 2 with my LS50's atop Skylans. I have to admit, I liked a lot about the LS50's on the metal stands I had them on before, but there was a harshness I couldn't shake. I wasn't 100% sure I'd keep them because of it. I crossed my fingers and ordered the Skylans and they're a game changer (no hyperbole) in my room, with my gear. The harshness is gone. The speakers feel totally isolated from the room and are allowed to do their job. When you're putting them together, they don't feel like an impressive product, but the sum is greater than the parts. Very happy with the purchase.

So, with an MDF base, you usually have these threaded inserts that hold the spikes. One issue with these is that, as you adjust the spikes, they can top out at the end of the hole and then push the threaded insert out of the MDF base. I was wondering if this is an issue with these stands, or if they have engineered something else.

I have been using my Skylan's for years and haven't experienced any such issue.

Email Noel at Skylan, if I recall correctly the threads are capped internally... Skylan has impeccable fit and finish – the best I've ever seen in stands.
