Not a big punk fan, hence my vote for Elvis Costello.

    Nope.

Mongoloid" is the first single released by American new wave band Devo in 1977, on the Booji Boy Records label. It was backed with the song "Jocko Homo".

many great songs on the list. Glad to see Slaughter & the Dogs included, but to me their single "Cranked Up Really High" b/w "Bitch" was the pinnacle!

My favorite is a one-off from a group called PVC2, which was Midge Ure and a couple of the boys from Slik turned punk.

Around half of those made the UK Top 40. None made the equivalent US chart.

I like some of these, actively dislike others, and there are yet others which I don't even know.

    Neat Neat Neat - Damned
    No More Heroes - Stranglers

I'll chose 5 from the list, but it could easily have been 15-20, this really is reliving my youth.

Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen
The Jam - In The City
Television - Prove It (florescent green 12" vinyl)
Ramones - Sheena Is A Punk Rocker
Elvis Costello - Watching The Detectives

Mix of UK / US and Punk / New Wave, happy days!!

What about the follow up single, "Up against the wall", that had a bit of attitude. Motorway is still a good song, but definitely more power pop, rather than new wave.

I kind of liked them all.

I voted GSTQ, because of it's iconic status... but I'd happily sing along to every one of them if they were on my iPod.

Voted for them all, bar Boomtown Rats. 1977 was a real musical 'kick up the backside' year, after the moribund mid-'70s.
