The recent Alice Cooper thread made me think about adding tracks to the iconic Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits lp.

Caught In A Dream was the only U.S. single omitted from the original album.

Which 3 tracks would you choose to add from this same time period?

Sorry if I missed the track you would choose. I tried to pick a few of the more popular ones from each album from the time period.

I picked not necessarily my favorites, but the ones that would fit best on this album (which is an unusually good greatest hits album IMO).

    Caught in a Dream
    Long Way to Go
    Generation Landslide

Ballad of Dwight Fry, Halo of Flies, Hard Hearted Alice and some others are great songs, but would hurt the flow of this album I think.

    From your choices I picked
    Generation Landslide
    Halo of Flies
    Ballad of Dwight Frye

But I would have picked Blue Turk if it was an option.

Interesting that Generation Landslide is picked by everyone so far. It was the only song added from this era when Monsters & Mascara was released.

For my choices, I picked songs that tended to be played live more often according to statistics from one of the set list web sites. However, I had to add a couple of tracks from the Muscle Of Love album.

If I deleted the Muscle Of Love tracks and added 3 more based upon times played live I could have added the following 3

    Unfinished Suite
    Raped And Freezin'
    Black Juju

It’s just impossible to fit all their classic material on a single album comp.
I did play Alice Cooper’s GH on endless loop (8 track)...but made my own 90 minute comp as soon as I had the technology.

I made a 20 track single disc cdr for myself so I added 8 tracks to Greatest Hits.

Pretty great comp as is but would add Caught and maybe Dwight Fry which is one of my favorites. Just feels out of place on this hits collection.

    Gutter Cat vs. The Jets
    Dead Babies
    Killer
(The last 2, linked together by that "Order in the court!" segue (which fits in thematically with both songs), are collectively my favorite 12-minute stretch on any Alice Cooper album, but including them on Greatest Hits would have made for a very long and tightly cut vinyl album.)

Can't believe "Blue Turk" is not on the list! It would have been my first choice for inclusion!

But it's a GREATEST HITS, not a BEST OF.
And the LP is already over 41 minutes long as it is.
    :-plnktn-:
But if we are going to ignore reality, I would pick:
    Public Animal #9
    Big Apple Dreaming
    Hard Hearted Alice

The have something called a compact disc now that will hold more music.:uhhuh:

In addition, Caught In A Dream was omitted and it was a single that charted. It was the only U.S. single from this time period that was omitted. Muscle of Love was included and it did not chart.

Does anyone like the Bob Ezrin remixes on Alice Cooper’s GH?

I feel that Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits (1974) is arguably the greatest or most well-served "greatest hits" ever made in a one album form. It almost completely covers every base in terms of the charted singles and yet, by and large, also conveys the actual best material from the Alice Cooper group. It's usually not the case that those things are one and the same for an artist.

I feel that even adding two more songs, even despite the fact that it would be stretching the limits of each record side technically, also would have made the perfect release somewhat of a "too much of a good thing" endeavor, from an already nicely sequenced viewpoint.

That said, I'm still more than happy to play along. :)

I think the three that would have still made "singles sense" would have been:

Caught In A Dream (It was in fact released as a single and charted at #94)
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah (B side of the charted hit, "Be My Lover")
Generation Landslide (B side of the charted hit "Hello Hooray")

Now the three I might have personally added, might be something like:

    Shoe Salesman
    Long Way To Go
    You Drive Me Nervous
