The final grouping in round one sees a few artists not seen before in Alice Cooper, Bjork, Fleet Foxes, The Pretenders and Cheap Trick - which song will accompany The Beatles through to round 2? :p

    Voted Alice and The Prodigy.

Precious-The Pretenders(Great Debut Album and Really Good Song to start it off)
Come Together-The Beatles(Really Good Opening Song, but do not understand why there were such lame Songs about Silver Hammers and Octopus Gardens early on in this Album that kills the momentum).

I will have to check out the Alice Cooper Song, as love the Title of it. Never cared for that Prodigy Song and just never got into Bjork(there goes my Alt-Indie Street Cred).

Precious and Surrender for me, only because both The Pretenders and Cheap Trick were new to me the first time I heard those albums. Talk about making a great first impression!

Come Together is awesome, but I didn't choose it for the mere fact that all of The Beatles stuff already gets enough worship here ;)

Just Fleet Foxes for me this time.

Heard them all apart from Cheap Trick but FF's song is the only one I rate at all.

Good morning and Welcome to our Nightmare - all these good songs. Even the strange noisy Tom Waits :)

Cheap Trick sounds like.. well .. at least very american college smart ass kids, skillfully done though. Didn't really know them. There's your R.E.M. Throwing Muses at little Pixies in Nirvana Smashing Pumpkins on a Green Day.

Precious was always a favorite, but these Hysteria girls.. Björk too!
I say Smack my bitches Up - but maybe not..

I'll vote for Alice Cooper. She knows how to treat a man..

    Welcome to my nightmare
    Human Behaviour

For me Welcome to my nightmare is a classic opening track and leads us into the album beautifully. If based purely on the "opener" theme, it should walk this home, but won't.
Human Behaviour was a fantatsic introduction to Bjork's second solo album Debut (after her stint with the Sugarcubes).

Every song on this poll is an excellent opener for their respective album.
The Prodigy song is quite brilliant, but I have never understood their context for the lyric in this track and would find it hard to support its theme, as I understand it.

Precious. I'll never forget bringing home their s/t album when it was released, cuing up track one side one, and being blown away. Perhaps the best opening track and closing track I've ever heard.

Which song is the closing track? I remember buying those singles but not the album so I missed some of the filling in the sandwich. If Kid is on it I know that I do prefer Tracy Thorn's cover version.
