    I couldn't wait until Wednesday.

While the last of the round one groups roll in, let's kick off our round two quartets.

The polls will be open for seven days in this round.

Will it be a foregone conclusion... Beatles and Byrds?

I'm voting for the other two!

In round one I noticed a couple of replies asking what is Steely Dan - they couldn't be serious surely? :p

It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to...

I voted The Beatles - A Hard Days Night
I did'nt have a second vote. The others did'nt appeal to me.

    Thank you!

Glad that Do It Again is doing so well - but the Prince army may still be a-sleepin'

I quite like Mr Tambourine Man & Do It Again so they get my votes.

Steely Dan of course. Should be a one vote. Sorry to see the usual forum faves survive once again.

I hope the songs in all these rounds are already in the right order so I don’t have to give it too much thought...

    1. 1999
    2. A Hard Day’s Night
    3. Do It Again
    4. Mr. Tambourine Man

    ;)

(Actually, I would have gone with Steely Dan if they had opened their debut with “Reelin’ in the Years.”)

    beatles.

every one of these with a beatles song, the beatles will win.

at one point it will be beatles vs. beatles vs. beatles

    the eventual winner ;

    beatles

I think this will come down to a showdown between Dylan and the Stones.

What Beatles opener beats “Gimme Shelter” or “Like a Rolling Stone”?

That it won't. If that were true there would be no point. Already a Beatles (I love The Beatles, don't you mate) song has fallen in round one. More will follow. The good people of SHF will prove that there are other pleasurable pastimes on the planet other than The Beatles.

well, of the four in this thread, the beatles tune is 4th on my list. i know that is just me, but it just seems like if the beatles are involved, they are always the frontrunner.

You are right of course. I don't think anyone could dispute it. But the way the draws are made could even pit two or more Beatles songs in the same group; unlikely but possible.

So I apologise for being a little brash - I just have some confidence that in this exercise, what seems like an obvious end may well not happen!

For some reason they are hugely popular here but tomorrow we will be Fab Four-free as it's gonna be a showdown between Bob 'n' Bruce!

I love the beatles, but it seems redundant to vote for them, and they are my two favourite songs in the list
