*POLL* Best opening song on an album - R2, G1

we should put all the beatles songs in one poll, and sort the wheat from the chaff

 

Surely this would have been done before? I don't mind The Beatles at all, great pop songs but I never understood the hysteria?

I like to tease them though - earlier I replied to a WL poll and voted off I Should Have Known Better because I prefer it by Jim Diamond.

I just have this nightmare that beatle bias will leave us four beatles tracks in the final, and although they are sure to be great songs, it is extremely debatable whether they would be the best four album openers of all time. Anyway, we'll see where we end up

 

Conversely I hope to see a non-Beatles grand final - with Subterranean Homesick Blues in it!

 

All at least pretty good, but: Beatles, Byrds

 

With six days to go it is possible albeit unlikely that A Hard Day's Night will be toppled.

Fascinating tussle for second though.

 

Steely Dan seems like a nice band.. but really: AHDN is much better than the rest.

 

I only voted for 1999.
Just not going to vote for 2 Songs unless I feel strongly about them(and in context as a Great Opening Song that is the purpose of this thread and wonder if some people are just voting for Songs they like overall).

Do It Again is ok, but nothing I feel the urge to ever play, and no idea how it would rank as a Great Album Opening Song.

Do not care for The Beatles Boy Band Pop Years(although I did vote in the 1st Round for 'Drive My Car', as 'Rubber Soul' seemed like a good transition album to their Better Albums to follow).

Not really into The Byrds, as just not my type of Music, so will leave it to others to determine if their Song in this Poll is a Great Album Opening Song.
