I love that Bear Family Rocks set. It’s my go-to Chuck comp when I don’t feel like making my own playlist. I like the track sequence of The Great Twenty Eight for nostalgia’s sake, but the Bear Family collection flows beautifully.

I suppose you could argue against My Ding-A-Ling since it was originally written by Dave Bartholomew if you only want to include Berry originals.

I can enjoy that one as well.

This one was pretty easy for me. "Wee Wee Hours," "Run Rudolph Run," "You Never Can Tell" and "Promised Land" for me.

Love Chuck. “Promised Land” and “You Never Can Tell” are the most obvious omissions. Then I picked “No Money Down” and the rockin’ “Dear Dad”.

I can see why most don’t pick “Anthony Boy”. It’s a personal favorite for me, but I’m biased.

My choices too, Chuck's car songs are great, and I've yet to find someone who doesn't like You Never Can Tell.

I burned a 79 minute CD a few years ago with these 4 tracks added to the Great 28 but substituting Down the Road Apiece and My Own Business for Bye Bye Johnny and Come On. I called it "The True 32."

I found this 28 track track Charly compilation.

It omits these 3 tracks from the Great-Twenty Eight.

    Havana Moon
    Oh Baby Doll
I Want To Be Your Driver

However, it adds these 3 tracks.

    No Money Down
    You Never Can Tell
    Promised Land

I think these changes improve the track listing.

Agree on Havana Moon & I Wanna Be Your Driver, they're OK but not essential, but I wouldn't lose Oh Baby Doll. I love it! Perhaps it should be 'The Great Twenty Nine'!

The three suggested replacements are all essential.

The biggest omission off The Great 28 is his spectacular bluesy song "Downbound Train" Probably my favorite Chuck Berry song.

It was probably left off because it wasn't a single A-side. It was the b-side of No Money Down which also was omitted.

However, it also was a b-side. The Great 28 includes mostly single a-sides, just a few b-sides and one album track ( I Want To Be Your Driver). In order to include the few b-sides and album track, they had to omit some a-sides.
