Don't be condescending. :tsk: It's not really about Deep Purple. It was about five musicians in the later stage of life. I can't imagine Benny Goodman or Duke Ellington ever having to read tacky comments like that. Hopefully, this person won't write it again for any artist.

What does what he wrote have to do with me? That's his opinion. Nice try though.

Thanks Jon! It's good seeing Ozzy use pencil and paper and not a computer.

The short samples of all Purple tunes are now on amazon. Can't say I liked what I heard - sounds EXACTLY like the last 2 albums. The same production, the same midtempo grooves. Why hire Bob Ezrin (of all people!) and wait 9 years to record another Rapture? Hope the actual album proves I'm wrong.

I love both of these bands, and really cannot choose which I think will produce the better record. I will buy both immediately, and likely enjoy them both.

And this thread saddens me because of people who are a fan of one band are tearing the other down just to elevate their band. These are two amazing bands with great legacies, both of who have produced excellent art after the 1970s, when many people either think they retired or think they should have.

Also, some people apparently already have both albums in a complete and final state and are making broad, sweeping judgements on one or the other. I didn't think either had been released yet.

Me too. The article that jon posted above makes me feel a little better about this project. We shall see.

Love for Dehumanizer here. And some like for Tony Martin, at least The Eternal Idol.

When do they meet? Is there a Board of Directors I can vote for? I'm voting out any that wasn't impressed by his work on Fused.

That's cool! I like everything with Dio and I like just about everything with Martin except 'Forbidden.' Guilty pleasure more or less.

I like everything with Dio as well. And I like everything Tony Iommi's ever been a part of of, but Forbidden is a challenge, outside of Can't Get Close Enough.

I must be one of the very few people who genuinely appreciates Purple's post-Blackmore albums (Abandon in particular) and I've been known to harbour positive thoughts even of Sabbath's much-maligned Tony Martin era albums. Nevertheless, I am rather looking forward to hearing both 13 and Now What?!, even though I'm pretty sure neither will make my BS or DP Top 5. I refuse to put them in order of preference before I have heard them (and most likely I will refuse to do so even after having listened to them). The sheer idea that these veteran groups are still around and making music is in itself almost enough to make me happy.

I was so full of hope for the new Purple cd but the 2 new tracks on Spotify are very disappointing. They don't sound fresh or exciting they feel rehashed and ordinary. I am also a huge Purple fan who voted for Sabbath.
