  1. "Ding Dong, Ding Dong"
    "Hari's On Tour(Express)"

    Followed by...
"It Is He (Jai Sri Krishna)"
    "Far East Man"

    And finally...
    "Maya Love"
    "Dark Horse"

Like "Extra Texture", "Dark Horse" is a short album that very underrated- with either you've got about half a great album- put them together & now you've got an interesting '74-'75 playlist/CD-R

This album was the easiest to narrow down the top 5:
    • Dark Horse
    • Ding Dong; Ding Dong
    • Far East Man
    • Simply Shady
    • So Sad

  4. Mechanical Man

The only song on this album I truly enjoy is the undeniably catchy "Māya Love", with its fluid Billy Preston electric piano runs. Rest of Dark Horse is a bit of a drag, I'm afraid.

Side 2 is the hands down winner for me. I almost never play Side 1.

There are no good songs on this album. Perhaps for George it was useful as therapy, but for fans it's just torture.

IMO: All George Harrison albums are like that to some extent, some better some worse, but always with some unevenness.
That being said, there are songs/music on every album that I enjoy.

I was quite surprised, apart from Bye Bye Love (which I do like more now than I used to), I had to select which not to pick. Sure, it's not a great album like All Things Must Pass, but I have a fondness for it as it was my first George album, and only the second I'd heard (ATMP, but that was too expensive). The first three song albums all have a different character, and though Dark Horse's is slight, it's still an enjoyable listen when I listen to it.

Whilst EMI Australia did manufacture locally, they also imported some US copies and I bought one at the time discounted.

My faves are the side openers and closers because of their warmth and positivity, though when allowed to select only five, I left out the rest of side one and Far East Man on side 2, but only because I enjoy the chosen a little more. The B-side of the single is clearly and usually a throwaway and I don't think of it as part of the album.

I'm also surprised it's considered by some posters a short album - at over 41 minutes it not by the standards of the day a short album (try 30 - 33 mins for many albums), not is it particularly short for George. It fits right in the middle of the time range for his (single disc) song LPs - 39 to 43 minutes.

I never liked this album from the get go. The later period Apple GH albums just don't do it for me. The title song is fine, but the rest are forgettable to me and I haven't listened to this album all the way through since it first came out. Even when I got the CD release I never played it, just filed it so there was no empty slot.

The best songs from Material World, Extra Texture and this album would have made 1 good album.

    "Hari's on Tour (Express)"
    "Simply Shady"
    "So Sad"
    "Dark Horse"
"It Is 'He' (Jai Sri Krishna)"

All solid songs and a better album than many give it credit for. That said, it's hard to disagree that he should have waited to record and tour.

I'm a big Dylan fan, and trust me when I say people take him to task for it!

Actually there are quite a few people who never liked Dylan's voice, even in his early days.

I don't think people have ever listened to Dylan for his vocal abilities... [excepting Lay Lady Lay, of course]

I agree. Voted for So Sad and all of Side 2. And if it were 4 I would have dropped SoSad.

Such odd programming for an album to start with so many downers and get upbeat (apart from an odd instrumental opener) only on side 2.

    The title song is decent.
And I'll admit that "Ding Dong..." is a goofy, guilty pleasure.
But the rest are utterly disposable.
