Not bad. And that's about it.
Honestly, I haven't listened to it in a couple of decades.

I bought an AKAI stereo VHS machine just to play the tape when it came out! Loved it at the time and it was a nice souvenir as I'd seen the tour in Germany and had a blast all weekend. Plus I found Rachel Fury very easy on the eye (as did DG apparently) :) Some of it is insufferable (I think they did that to 'Money' just to enrage Roger) but it definitely has it's moments. It is what it is, as is 'Venice'. Top-shelf Floyd? Not in any universe, but it's a fun thing and, as pro-recorded live Floyd is such a rare commodity, I'm happier that it exists than I would be if it didn't!

Edit - Rachel Fury has a horse named 'Polly' btw :biglaugh:

I was at one of the shows. They only included 1 of that night's songs on the CD, which surprised me as I remember that show as being fairly lively. I think the folks who chose the performances to include were asleep at the wheel.

I love the jazz-reggaefied "Money". It's a fairly (80s) Zappaish take on it, and I'm a huge Zappa fan.

As a template for post-Waters live Floyd, it doesn't hold up as well as later releases - including the live stuff Gilmour has put out since the turn of the century. But, considering what this show had going against it - years of a bad breakup, the first real attempt to deliver a full sound to the people at the back of the stadium, cocaine - it holds up as a very entertaining piece of history IMHO though I just as often listen to the soundboards I've downloaded of complete shows. Solid effort!

Good live late 80's Floyd album release. I remember getting it in the music store late 1988 and it was like a big deal because it was a live new Floyd release on cd.

Has some great moment's might cue this cd up later today. Wonder if a digipak remaster is in the works?

Just listening back to see if I'm being overly harsh.

    Nope. It's awful.

Guy Pratt's vocals on 'Run Like Hell' are a disgrace.

I also remember seeing it at Sam Goody's when it was released. I didn't have the cash for the cd's (I think it was $26.99), but my college roommate had deeper pockets and he ended up buying it. That thing was played non stop for the next 4 months.

Solid. The AMLOR songs mostly come off better here, though "The Dogs Of War" is just not a very good song. I'm also not a fan of these live "Run Like Hell" renditions. Most of the other classic tracks are fine, though I'll more likely listen to the Pulse versions or, of course, the studio tracks.

    So-so. 'Pulse' is much better.

No Welcome To The Machine and too many songs from AMLOR.

Also, a better counter-voice to Gilmour is needed in the two "encores" Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell.

It's not bad, but I would not recommend a retail purchase.

I like the last three studio albums. "The Endless River" is a great album.
But I don't really into live records from this period.
For me the best Pink Floyd live years - 1967-1977.
Plus very cool the last two tours from David (For example the best Echoes version).

IIRC Wright sounds terrible as well. I remember seeing the video back when it was released - during "Time", Wright sounds like he's running out of breath after every line.

Mid Lower tier. I used to hear this a lot around '92-93 from friends but I never picked up a copy of my own. I would be more likely to play Pulse that this one if I was at all inclined to play a live album from this era of the band.

Good points, but it's also worth remembering that Gilmour & Mason took a heck of a risk with their own money, to pull this off. To the victor, the spoils.

A solid one. Some tracks on that live album don't sound much Floyd to me, more Sting-related.^^
Maybe because of that different saxophone man, but I love that live version of 'Shine On'.
Also, the Momentary Lapse Of Reason material sounds better here. Wonder if we ever get that concert film (16mm?) on bluray sometime.
