Pick your favorite albums from this list of popular rock classics, as many as you want.

I picked six of the first eight, then none. Too many albums there that I don't consider to be Classic Rock, however good they may be.

    Uhhhh...ALL of them???

And that list excludes other albums. For example, I'd put Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ahead of Abbey Road.

And what about Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen and the Allman Brothers Band's Live At Fillmore East. You also might have to include the soundtrack to Woodstock as well as George Harrison's Concert For Bangladesh and The Band's The Last Waltz. How about U2's The Joshua Tree? Should Van Morrison's Moondance be included? And you probably'd have to include Derek & The Dominos' Layla.

I'm sure there will be others. It's the basic problem with having a post that starts with "The best or The biggest...". You're looking for an absolute when things like this are subjective. Adding to the problem is putting the query out in the form of a poll, it's limiting.

  6. What does 'biggest' mean? Most popular? Critical acclaim? Airplay? Sales?

If this is related to 'Classic Rock' as a radio playlist a few of these, no matter how worthy wouldn't be on here.

Welcome to sh.tv where no good deed or aimless poll goes unpunished:laugh:

    1) Too many high quality picks, but that's to be expected
    2) Letting people pick them all undermines the poll
    3) Too many missing from the list

I limited myself to six and I still feel unsatisfied with my choices. Its an impossible poll to pull off without having it done in stages, imo.

At any rate I picked DSOTM, Who's Next, The Doors, Moving Pictures, Van Halen, and Close/Edge. I couldn't pick Led Zep IV over the missing and superior Zep II.

    Simon & Garfunkel? Classic Rock?

And they have more votes than AC/DC, Van Halen & Skynyrd?

Maybe I don't know what it means :)

LOTS of good ablums there and I could have easily picked multiples but I help myself to one as hard as that was! Anytime there is any kind of pole about best ablum / classic rock album ever and The Doors "The Doors" recording is on the list - hands down. After that things become a lot tougher for me LOL ;)

There are still many albums that could be included in the poll, but I'm limited with 25 poll slots.

    Of this list:

    Exile on Main St.
    Pet Sounds
    Highway 61 Revisited

All of which I adore. The others...

:shh: Hmmm... I'm not quite sure I'm much of a fan of "classic rock" anymore.

True, that's why multiple or incremental polling would be more ideal.

At any rate don't take any of my criticisms as hostile, they certainly weren't intended to be. :righton:

Agree, more ideal but still flawed...

    Why?
Theoretically, non-winning finalists of the first poll could be considered "bigger" than winning finalists of the second poll. But they're never pitted against each other (as in "round robin" competition).

    Just a thought...bottom line,
    It's all good fun.

I don't understand some of the choices. Why would Highway to Hell appear here when Back in Black was a much bigger seller? Why the first Lynyrd Skynyrd album and not Second Helping? Sweet Home Alabama is the song that brought Skynyrd to national attention.
