The 1979 Eagles album gets the WL treatment this week. Pick two of these as weak links.

"Greeks" and "I Can't Tell You Why". I freakin' cannot stand Timothy B. Schmidt. Such a huge downgrade from Randy. Plus it's got that late '70's "Solid Gold" sound. Ugh...

"The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks" - novelty tune to help capitalize on "Animal House"

"Heartache Tonight" - Frey didn't bring a whole lot of ideas on the later albums and always had to get outside assistance (JD Souther, Bob Seger, etc.)

  5. "Teenage Jail" and "The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks".

"Those Shoes" is pure genius. Love that song.

  6. Man, you really HATE Frey, don't you!? You seem to take every opportunity you get to bash the guy on this forum. You: "Hey Frey, want a piece of this, huh, huh, HUH? :wantsome:

Yep, first pick is easy: Disco Strangler and Greeks.

Aside: I just realized this is the only Eagles album I know all the way through.

Went for Teenage Jail and Greeks.
This LP would have made a fine EP

    "Teenage Jail" and "Greeks".

I just listened to the album last night to refresh myself on it, and those are the only 2 songs that I was kinda "meh" about. The rest of the album is great, so it's going to be tough from here on out.

Hard to pick two. Disco Strangler, Teenage Jail, and Geeks are all subpar. Overall like TLR least of all Eagles albums.

I guess Geeks was playing to Animal House, but basically I think it was Azoff linking The Eagles with Buffett, who was maybe his hottest act at the time.

I like it, but the talk-box grates on my nerves.

  14. Really? It's the talk box that makes it pure genius for me. I've never heard it played in such a cool manner.

  16. Mike, you did NOT just write that. "King Of Hollywood"? That song is an underrated MASTERPIECE. The lyrics, the various guitar passages, and the harmonies, still give me goosebumps to this day. Shame on you! :tsk: ;)

I don't like the original vinyl song configuration for CD due to poor overall flow. I made my own CD-R that works better. If you don't like the album, maybe try to fix the album by changing the song order.

    "Hollywood" and "Teenage Jail"

What's the deal with the thread police officer here? Considering the topic is nominally negative, there are going to be a lot differing opinions/responses.

I actually gave it a re-listen and stick with my vote. It is not a bad song, but for me I barely remembered it...making it forgetable. Except for the wonderful vocal duet, the guitars are good not great and the song is too long.
