Rain to go. This would be my final pair. And it's a toss up. I just happened to pick Rain on gut reaction.

My final would be I Should Have Known Better vs. Don't Let Me Down or Old Brown Shoe.

Anyway I voted Revolution as weakest link.

These would be my final two and I cannot vote off either one. (First time this has happened to me in one of these polls, btw.) Simply impossible for me.

"Rain" gets the boot. My final two would be "Don't Let Me Down" and "Revolution."

    I vote off Rain

My final pairing would be Hey Jude winning over Revolution

Rain would be #3, followed by Paperback Writer, The Ballad Of John & Yoko, I Should Have Known Better, Can't Buy Me Love, Lady Madonna, Old Brown Shoe, and Don't Let Me Down.

Voted off Revolution only because Rain is a more innovative record. Love them both (well love the whole album really).

My final pair would probably be these two, maybe one of these vs Don't Let Me Down.

Voted off Revolution. My final would Rain vs. Paperback Writer with Rain for the win. It's hard to beat '66 with their two best singles (PW/Rain and Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane were both recorded in '66) and Revolver.

  13. My final two would be

    Rain
    Hey Jude

I kmow Jude is over played but that doesn't make it any Less powerful. I took a very long break from the song and came back to appreciate the brilliance of it.

Nevertheless, (Wait that's not in this album)

Old a Brown Shoe was also high on my list as was Revolution and Lady Madonna.

Rain to go this time. My final would be Revolution vs Old Brown Shoe... although the final as it is now would be my second choice.

"Hey Jude" and "Paperback Writer" -- "Hey Jude" is my favorite track by anyone, ever.

  19. I like "Ballad" quite a bit but it isn't the best song by the band. It has its charm but IMHO should not have been the A side.

Even the rule that you vote off the one you like least?

    Gotcha! :)

After some consideration, Revolution gets the vote, Rain is the "strongest link".

Final two is a tough call. I Should Have Known Better deserved a much better fate, and it might well be one of the two. But Paperback Writer and Rain are both fantastic, and together comprise one of the best A/B singles ever. So final two from among these three.

And from there it's only a short drop to Don't Let Me Down (which is probably the exact opposite of the kind of song I normally like), Revolution and Lady Madonna.

Hey Jude is a nice heartfelt song but its coda is one of the weaker ones among songs that have them. And Can't Buy Me Love is a pretty good tune from the early days, not my favourite, but likeable and very catchy.

DQ: "Hey Jude" is my favorite Beatles song not named "A Day In The Life," so that is an easy winner for me. Second place would be tougher, and could be subject to change if I ever thought about this again, but today, I'm going for "Rain" as my runner-up.
