There was a tie, so my vote for "Honaloochie Boogie" is excluded. So......."Hymn for the Dudes" is no longer here and is alone. We've reached the final. Remember that you're still voting for the weakest link, and not the song you want to win.

Discussion question: What would your personal final pairing have been?

    The limelight fades away.......................

Hymn for the Dudes (Round 5)
Ballad of Mott the Hoople (26th March 1972, Zürich) (Round 4)
    Drivin’ Sister (Round 3)
    Whizz Kid (Round 2)
I’m a Cadillac / El Camino Dolo Roso (Round 2)
I Wish I Was Your Mother (Round 1)
    Violence (Round 1)

DQ: “All the Way from Memphis” over “Hymn for the Dudes,” I guess. The important thing is the right song will win.

LandHorses, will you be hosting an All the Young Dudes game at some point?

Looks like ALL THE WAY is going all the way to the top !
My personal final pairing would have been ALL THE WAY and WHIZ. 'Motors in her feet' gets me every time. What a fun lyric !
But ALL THE WAY with that wailing, screeching sax is unsurpassed.

Wow... for me, 'Hymn For The Dudes' is the jewel on this record... and now it's off... so this becomes a moot exercise.

After 'Hymn', it would be 'Whizz Kid' or 'Ballad' for my #2... depending on the day of the week.

'Memphis' is great... but a tad overplayed... and I've come to dread it as it usually signals the end of a Rant Band show.

    Memphis

My final pair would be Boogie over Mother, with Hymn a close third.

These days I usually prefer the live version of Memphis, the heavier guitar I really miss on the studio version especially at the beginning.

That’s why I chose this album first. It had more secondary well known songs I thought could challenge “Memphis”.......but then what I thought might be the other big song went out in the 1st round :)

By by "Boogie" for the 3rd time in a row. Strange for such commercially failure band their 2 45's take the cake.
No problem at least some still remember this great band. Ian and or the band should be in the HOF. I hope it
    won't be posthumous.
My top two after much torture would be "Ballad" and "Hymn"

Nothing was going to beat “Memphis,” but the closest thing was “Honaloochie,” which also was released as a single.

At least it’ll be easier to play that game than this one, because with ATYD I’ll have no problem deciding what four songs to eliminate first. :)
