"Across The Great Divide" has been eliminated.

Three tracks remain. One must go.

    Discussion Question:
The Band is also known for having several different lead vocalists. Many of the members of The Band are known for playing several different instruments. Who is your favorite singer in The Band? Who do you think is the best musician in the band?

    4 Across The Great Divide
    5 Rag Mama Rag
    6 Whispering Pines
    7 The Unfaithful Servant
    8 Rockin' Chair (Round 2)
9 When You Awake (Round 2)
    T 10 11 Jemima Surrender (Round 1)
    T 10 11 Look Out Cleveland (Round 1)
    12 Jawbone (Round 1)

    Creek to go.

    My favorite? Levon

I think though, as a pure singer/vocal instrument, Richard is the best.

But Levon can cover more ground: barrelhouse honkytonk, americana, mournful, bawdy, etc....

Best musician? I don't know.... my first impression is blurt out "GARTH!"
That's if you're looking at it from a mastery over the instrument.
But if you include songwriting in the musicianship, it would have to be Robbie.

Tough call, a band with multi-instrumentalists and singers.... an embarrassment of riches.

“Cripple Creek,” though it’s obvious my favorite is going here.

DQ: Don’t know enough about The Band to say for certain. :D

I have to vote “present” because I can’t bring myself to call any of his weak. Years ago it would have been King Harvest but now that’s grown on me to where it’s pretty much an equal.
I just love this whole album.

Cripple Creek is still here? So far it looks like I'll be voting for that one next round, too.

Cripple Creek. King Harvest going out? Wow...my favourite of the album and one of their very best ever.

DQ - as a vocalist probably Richard. Musician - toss up between Robbie and Garth.

    King to go.

DQ: Really tough to pick between Manuel and Levon, but I'll go with Richard because of his absolutely perfect vocal on "Katie's Been Gone." Song honestly makes me cry about one in five times I play it.

I'll go Levon for best musician, pushed over Robbie because of his mandolin skills. He doesn't have the songwriting chops obviously but I love the feel he brings.

"Up on Cripple Creek" has to go.

Richard Manuel would be my favorite vocalist in The Band.
For musician I would go with Levon Helm. Love his groove.

Singer - hard to choose between Richard and Levon. Most bring great different aspects.
Musician - Levon might be my favorite rock drummer, so I'll say him............but all 5 were essential to their sound.

    Dixie!

Rick Danko is my favourite singer in The Band although, in fairness, both Manuel & Helm could certainly hold a tune.

Not sure about my favourite instrumentalist, I suppose they all seem competent enough.

    King Harvest

DQ: Like Danko’s voice the best. Can’t really say who the best musician is but I am always amazed by Levon’s ability to sing lead and drum at the same time (cf. ...Dixie from the Last Waltz).

    King Harvest to go;

    Rick & Levon both great vocalists, Richard often waivered off pitch to my ears;

Robbie super guitar player, Rick great bass player, Levon excellent drummer, Garth fabulous keyboard player, Richard likewise - heck they were all great musicians!

    What a band!
