Excuse me, ya dig the Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson:
her studio/live music, guitar playing, stage presence, ...etc.?
This is about her as a Rockabilly artist (and not her country music career).

Is she in your eclectic collection: LPs, CDs, tapes, cassettes, ... featuring the Queen of Rockabilly?

    Video: Searchin'

    Here is an excellent compilation:

  2. That same compilation is the only Wanda Jackson I have, and I really love her.

I have that CD as well as the follow-up "Country Years" collection. Love her work up until the early sixties.

Picked up the Wanda Rocks CD by the Bear family. And being totally honest, I'd say my eyes like her, but my ears can't stand her.

I have that comp and it´s indeed very good. I voted for "I like her very much". She´s great, but for a higher ranking she should be among the 50 all time great artists. She´s more among the 100´s

  15. She's OK. Don't have any of her records, and don't plan to buy any because that style isn't really my thing, but for what it is she's alright. Saw her live a couple of years ago too, and she put on an entertaining set, even with a 20 minute rain delay in the middle.

    I like her.

  17. I like her. I have the Queen Of Rockabilly album.

Wanda was born and grew up in the booming metropolis of Maud, Oklahoma, about 15 miles from where we lived for 30 years.

I love her as a rockabilly singer, and love her even more as a country singer. My copy of "Right Or Wrong" is so heavily played it is a miracle it still plays well.

I picked up the LP she did with Jack White... the one that you open and it plays a song.
After that I was in... so I grab every used Wanda lp that I can find. Also picked up 'Unfinished Business' on CD.

Ha! I can relate to this. I have her first two albums and I really, really want to like her music but it just doesn't click for me. Ironically, I prefer her first album, which is a couple of rock songs amidst a bunch of weepy country songs, to her second which is more rock'n'roll all the way through. Her very raspy approach to rock singing kinda grates on my nerves. But she can sing those country ballads very sweetly, sure enough!

I really want to like her music more than I do. Maybe it'll come some day.

That's a tough one. The early sides put her squarely in the pantheon of classic early rockers - and they're fantastic. I lose interest, though, when she goes country and leaves rock 'n' roll behind, so I'm not sure how to vote... depends which era you're talking about.
