There are five guitar players there which are among my favorite musicians ever. And I love most of the rest.
    Sorry, I can't choose one.

Guthrie Govan would wipe the floor with all of them, there's nothing he can't play and he plays it all with feeling, not like an 80's LA shredder.

Dick Taylor, Chris Spedding, Syd Barrett and Fred Frith deserve representation here too. My vote goes to Ronnie Wood.

Yes multiple choices are needed on this poll. If only only 1 choice I had to go with steve howe.

From this list, definitely Johnny Marr. But I also like Tony Iommi, Andy Summers, and Fripp.

Either Eric Clapton or Hank B Marvin for lead guitar.

    Whoah !!!!

What a list to have to choose just "one" player.....I went with Brian May, simply because like Alex Lifeson of RUSH, he knows the right chords & phrasings to capture the song & it's appeal in full. Not easy to do in small-piece-bands.

Robin Trower is arguably the most accomplished & stylistic guitarist on the planet IMO...But he's sadly not included in the list...

    Ciao,

Peter Green and Danny Kirwan ran rings around everyone on this list, except maybe around the other Steve Jones......

I loved Rory but as has been pointed out, he was Irish and not British. So Paul Kossoff for me, such soulful playing.

Can’t I just say “all of them?” :D

I don't see Bill Nelson, who is a current favorite of mine.

    I voted Keef, just because.

Richard Thompson, Blackmore and Iommi are my top three from anywhere, but since I discovered Patto a couple of years back Ollie Halsall May be number two, he should be an option.

    Fripp is great too.
Is the list missing John Martyn, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn?

Also for my first years of fandom Fast Eddie Clarke was my favourite guitarist, he should be an option-probably my number five.

I feel like the guitar teams from Priest and Maiden should be eligible as teams.

And I need to mention Steve Howe-aaaRgh !

Beck has clearly equal stature, and about 25 years ago in British polls Brian May started coming first, the first time it wasn’t Clapton.
