Stand By Me is an amazing film. It is for everyone. Both kids and adults can relate to it. Never get tired of watching it.

E.T is also a great film and left a big impression on me as a kid.

The Goonies is the ultimate kids film although I would not call it a great film.

I will go with those 3 although Stand By Me would be top of my list.

Totally missed this one - a bit embarrassing considering my Avatar is the main character in it!

Good call - this one often gets lost in the shuffle. If you like black humor, you'll love it.

I have at least two friends who totally don't get black humor - boy, did they have trouble with this and "Heathers." I think they asked me to turn both off after 15 to 20 min's.

Lotsa good stuff on that list but I'm going to vote "Other" - the original "RoboCop" (1987) is my favorite movie ever.

I'm afraid wouldn't put any of the poll choices in my top 10 for the decade, and The Shining would be the only one that might make my top 20.

Apart from many already mentioned, I would put ...Say Anything, The Last Temptation of Christ, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Blood Simple, The Right Stuff, The Verdict, Fitzcarraldo, and Atlantic City ahead of anything in the poll.

It's safe to say that I love every movie on the list. But as a kid in the 80s, these were the two I had on Beta Max and watched pretty much daily (along with the first Star Wars). Still have the posters up in my basement work shop. :p
