Who would you nominate for worst drummer?

*the idea for this thread was taken from the Prince thread. Here though you have unlimited options. You must give an example of their bad druming though.

Perhaps we should title this thread, "drummers who would be starving musicians if they didn't luck-out and join a band that became successful"

I've never really been a fan of U2's drummer, but the least impressive drummer I can think of is the guy from The Tragically Hip. I like a lot of The Hip's songs, but I saw the recently released 'Live in Toronto' DVD and wasn't too impressed. Luckily, he didn't attempt a solo.

And to thread crap on a crap thread (just kidding), one of my favorite drummers is Nick Mason from Pink Floyd. What he does sounds so simple, yet it is perfect for the music.

You just haven't joined the right band. ;)

There is really no worst drummer to me - I've tried to play drums and can't even play a simple beat (never mind keeping time)

We all used to sit around and listen to the bad drumming on the Byrds albums, especially the fourth one.. We felt that we could do better. (Easy to say when you're sitting around and not in a Columbia Square Studio with union engineers breathing down your neck...)

I'm sure there's "worse" out there, somewhere. But, he's the first one that popped into my head.

Those DC5 drum tracks are fun though...

Consider Dennis Wilson. Then there's the drummer in the Shaggs.

I actually agree with the original poster. Being a drummer myself for now more than 13 years, I can safely say that Green Day's drummer is TERRIBLE. He is definitely the worst drummer in the pop music scene currently.

I never liked Keith Moon's drumming - he was very overrated. However, the WORST drummer of all time in the world is:

The damn computer-generated backbeats to every damned pop/rap song in the country currently.

You not liking him doesn't mean he's overrated.

Which is why these threads never work. They turn into "he sucks"...."I hate him"....

regardless of who they are, they're drumming in band, we're typing about them...so who sucks? :)

Easily Mitch Mitchell of the JHE. Waaaay too busy and and he could never lock into a solid groove to save his life. Okay, I'm joking - I love Mitch Mitchell ( What a great rock and roll name!). I guess I've never really noticed a 'bad' drummer that stood out in my mind.

    OK, let's get serious here:

    Dennis Wilson

Well, there you go. Moon is my all-time favorite drummer, and to me Tre has a lot of his characteristics (without nearly the same skill, I admit). Still, I really really love what Tre does with his kit.

    OK

It's a toss(er) up between Bev Bevan and Buffin (Dale Griffin)

Did Keith Moon ever play just a straight four for a full song, rather than thrashing all over his kit when he got bored after two seconds? Imagine Moonie doing Emminence Front?

The Who had John Entwhistle - Keith was there to add colour.

Not too many drummers had solo albums - I haven't heard Moon's. How is he when compared with what he did on The Who's records?

It's interesting watching Zak Starkey play "Another Tricky Day" live, since he does it as Moon would have, namely with a splashy cymbal sound, unlike the straight up high hat sound Kenney Jones did the song with in the recording. Me, I thought Keith Moon was great.

I love the White Stripes, but man, Meg White is a terrible drummer! I mean, I could play drums better then her!
