If Wilson is open for the synth era, I'd love to see Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows get the treatment! Otherwise, bring on Caress of Steel and Hemispheres!

EDIT - If these truly come to fruition, then it'd be a neat opportunity to physically release the digital hi-res masterings.

oh ffs... on the one hand, I'd love to hear that.. on the other, I was hoping this last round of hi-res re-masters was going to be the last time I'd have to re-buy those discs! :/

Blah, aint buying these again, plus his revisionist work with Simple Mind's Sparkle in the Rain was a big burn.

Sparkle is a bit compressed to begin with, no?

I replaced my 2000's-era remaster of New Gold Dream with an 80's silver cd. The superiority of the 80's issue silver cd was astonishing.

I think Steven Wilson will have a blast, especially with Permanent Waves and 2112. Natural Science will be epic!

If he also does a STEREO remix of Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels, I'll be interested. Otherwise I'm done buying future Rush re-releases in any form.
Sean Magees incredible run of remasters will be the end destination for me.

Now, if SW could get his hands on the Genesis multi tracks...

No! No no no no no! I've bought their entire discography 4+ times, and said to myself after hearing this year's incredible remasters that I WILL NOT be doing it again. Unless they're remixed... By Steven Wilson...

    *sigh*

Ok, bring them on. I will buy them. I will enjoy them. I will mourn my wallet even as the Spirit of Radio envelopes my soul in glorious 5.1 surround.

I'd LOVE Steven to remix classic Rush in 5.1 AND STEREO

Plus generous amount of extras, I'd buy it without a blink

Moving Pictures has the possibility to be the best sounding 5.1 yet!

I'd really like new stereo versions of Moving Pictures through Roll The Bones. We know that several (most? all?) of the '80s albums were tracked to analog tape, and then mixed down to 16/44.1 or /48, using early digital converters. And the later ones (e.g., HYF, Presto, RTB), even if tracked to 16/44, could probably benefit from being mixed at a higher resolution, to let them breathe a little. (They could also use some taming of that digital edginess that was in fashion at the time.)

I had really hoped that this was going to be part of the plan for this round of remasters, but sadly it was not. I've picked up Sean Magee's Presto and RTB on vinyl because he has definitely improved the balance on these, but I will likely hold off on the rest and wait to see if this remix project comes to be. (Just please let Magee master them, as I've heard that Wilson's Tull remixes were destroyed by heavy-handed mastering. Don't know if it's true. Even the Crimson ones that are so well liked seem a little louder than necessary.)

Only Aqualung and Thick As A Brick were mastered too bright on their physical editions, but this was corrected for the Hi-Res downloads.

By the "Mewtilator" himself. He only mastered the stereo mixes (on CD and DVD), though, correct? The 5.1s were flat transfers of Wilson's mixes?

I've been trying to decide which Rush albums I would like to see remixes and surrounds of the most. My favorites are AFtK through PeW, but they had pretty good mixes with the exception of PeW in my opinion. The eighties material would generally be suited more suited to surround with more layers and ambience going on. I think the two I would hope to see first are Permanent Waves and Hold Your Fire. I think a remix of HYF would turn a few heads and make some people reevaluate that Rush dark horse, and the surround should be great with all the keyboard layers.

No, the 5.1 mixes are also mastered by Peter Mew, except TAAB was corrected for the 2nd DVD edition.

Well, the Magee version of HYF was enough to do the trick for me. If you haven't heard it, you really should:)

This. I love Rush, but easy up on the release schedule guys, or at least work it out better! Unfair on the fans IMO.
