    Darling Dear is a Jackson 5 album cut. May not be totally obscure but worth mentioning for one of the greatest funky bass parts ever.

    I'm not a bass player but Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' original single of "Darling Dear" also has a terrific bass line...been digging it for years, although I heard the Jackson 5's version first in 1970.

    I agree, Sly Stone's solo album High on You is very underrated! Crossword Puzzle is a killer track.

    Mandrill are awesome and very very underrated. Their albums are an amazing mix of latin, funk, rock, fusion and even prog!
