I thought I'd create a thread where people could post some great rocking in studio performances (hence the thread title). For my first submission for thread I thought I'd share this video I came across of T. Rex doing a live studio version of "Buick Mackane" for a German tv show. I thought it was a really great performance. Sadly, I think every person that's performing in the video is now dead (if I'm not mistaken). I believe that's Steve Peregrin Took on percussion, Steve Currie on bass, Mickey Finn on drums and, of course, Marc Bolan on guitar and vocals. That's a bit sobering.

Anyone got some good rocking performances they want to share?

My favorite "Great studio performance" to a backing track!:biglaugh:

EDIT; amazingly hilarious answer in a studio performance (protest) to being told to pretend the play while backing track plays! Love It.

That’s a great one. I believe that’s Rick Derringer on guitar, Dan Hartman (of all people) on bass, and Chuck Ruff on drums. Correct me if I’m wrong. Edgar Winter is one hell of a versatile musician.

It's Mickey Finn on percussion. Drummer is Bill Legend, still alive :)

Ah, ok. Thanks for the correction :). I honestly thought the bass player was Jaco Pastorius when I first watched it!

Read thru this before watching these. No time this morn as I just posted and off to work. But, if I didn't read your Jaco comment I would have been headscratchin' for awhile ha. Great great vids!

Here's a rare and funny clip (not in the studio, but instead in the kitchen!). This never made the album, LOL

This is close to a studio setting. The Guitar solo is perfect.
