Agreed, too bad that Sunn O))) does not record to tape, which frankly surprises me given their aesthetic. Vinyl generally at least has a little more DR and headroom vs. their digital counterparts. Plus, most vinyl issues of this music have killer packaging.
Not many do tape anymore. That new Electric Wizard was, but it's pretty rare. And they're packaging is great (as was Goatsnake's before them).
Been meaning to pick that EW up, thanks for the reminder! Edit: this is where the EW was recorded, which means there are other AAA recordings to seek out. Toe Rag Studios - Wikipedia (Sorry for the off topic excursion everyone.)
Toe Rag and Liam Watson do fantastic work! Some friends of mine from California (the Saturn V featuring Orbit) recorded an EP there while they were doing some shows in the UK.
I gotta tell you guys, these Elac UB5's seem to be a match made in heaven with my Sansui 9090 in my small 10x12 room. I kind of bought them on a whim, fully expecting to return them, but they sound way better than you would think for 5 bills. Needless to say, I'm keeping them. Also, the room is a work in progress, I still have to hide the wires under the TV and the bundle of wires in the corner.
Thanks man. I absolutely love the 9090 AND The Yes Album lol. If you don't have it already, the Friday Music 45 rpm pressing is excellent.
I was thinking the same thing! I haven't listened to the vinyl since I got the brilliant 5.1 mix, but I may have to give it a listen tonight on that modest rig I posted yesterday.
You will love that tonearm/cartridge combination! Had an old generation Triplanar with a Bronze (that is still have and use) on a Spiral Groove TT.
Thanks. My wife wanted me to paint the walls and I was like no way! Lol. Now if I only had a spot for a lava lamp! Might be time to retire the Highlander sword and get a cool music related picture. Maybe I'll see if I can track down a Tales From Topographic Oceans print. Always loved that cover
