I suggest pulling the speakers forward a few inches more at least, so that the front of the speakers are completely in front of the console. Eliminate those first reflections!
If the B6's are anything like the UB5's which I use, I'd pull them out around 2 feet from the wall and toe them in till you just see the inside side of the speaker. Imaging will get better, and the bass will tighten up.
Will do - I've read that they need to be at least a foot from the wall but will certainly experiment. Love these speakers - they sound much 'larger' than they are!
Inspired by geddyfleaharris's console/stand pictures I've completely re-arranged my family room. Some day I'll take long exposure pictures with my DSLR but for now phone pictures from my cheap phone will have to do. Equipment is mostly the same as before. Sony PS-LX520 turntable with stock Sony VL-45G cartridge/Pfanstiehl Hyper-elliptical upgraded stylus Marantz SR-4120 stereo receiver (circa 1999 - all analog Philips era Korea built with integrated phono stage) Sony BDP-590 Blu-Ray/SACD/Streaming player Pioneer PS-F606 25 CD changer Polk Audio R50 tower speakers Grundig KS752U console - LP changer non-functional, but it is connected to the Tape Out from the Marantz so I can use it. I have some square 2"/2" isolation pads for between the receiver and the turntable on order.
Well, not a lot of thought behind it, but those suckers are heavy, so it was a job, that's for sure. And they go a long way in damping floor vibration in cheaply constructed Japanese houses. I can walk around in front of the system without worrying to much about it getting to the turntable, so it was worth it to me to go through the hassle.
In my listening room I have 4 lava lamps. One is above my kegerator and when I went to pour a beer, this is what I saw.
I've posted pictures of my current system before but they always look bad because I use my old phone. I decided to get the good camera out and take some more. I don't think these look a whole lot better though. I don't know how you guys get these amazing pictures. I sure need to update to room's decor in to this century!
The secret is lighting. Turn off your flash and get a tripod (or use something else to hold the camera like a shelf or something). Beautiful system!
