That's the one I had way back when. I probably used it for 25 years until I bought a used SL1500. Not sure it was an improvement. Enjoy it.
Yes.....I think many people are not willing, or just plain can't, give up the floor space. My Maggies leave room behind to pass through and don't block the view through the windows. But if we had children, the speaker wire would surely be getting kicked out of the amp, or a speaker would get toppled.......something. If we had a cat I would have to change to box speakers for the Maggies would just be big climbing post, right? All that grill cloth starting at the floor......surely would be irresistible.
No, I understand the limitations some people have but sometimes seeing such great speakers so poorly placed makes you wonder if they're really getting the benefit of the money they spent. One can enjoy the music for a LOT less money with speakers chosen for the space limitations.
Thanks. Well, my stereo system is rather modest and my "listening room" is actually the living room, but I like nonetheless
Strange. For me it works. Anyway, there are lots of nicer looking rooms in this thread, so you won't miss much
had my mind blown many times by a little transistor radio that barely/noisily pulled in the Detroit station in the late 60's On a side note, have to mention Chris Squire died Saturday for those of you who might have been a fan. I sure was! .
This isn't a hi-fi piece, but I'm pretty proud of it. I remember standing on a chair watching the records change. It has been in disrepair for 30 years, but now is restored and working.
Most men chose speakers for their looks/size, thinking that bigger is better, and then have to make them fit in the room. I personally prefer a nice pair of monitors on stands in any room up to 400 sq ft. I think they breathe better, sound better. I lived very happily with these B&Ws for ten years until we moved into a much larger room. Then they just couldn't fill it. .
On some other forums I'm on the set ups are far worse. I've seen set ups with top of the line Sonus Faber place behind the sides of a couch, which covers half the the speaker. My set up isn't optimal but I have sacrificed best sofa placement for practical reasons for best placement for speaker placement reasons. If hand over the decorating reigns to some of my friends, the sofa will be perfectly placed for entertaining but one speaker will be in one corner of the room and the other will be wherever they can put it so it doesn't interfere with how good the room looks!
Yes ..the CDM 1 SE, (special edition). Fine speaker. Could have lived with them for another ten years but they could not fill the 20' x 30' with 17' ceiling.
I have the CDM1NTs - been running these for several years now - good used deal. No plans to upgrade. Very nice bookie for my tastes.
