I just added a Blue Circle Audio conditioner in my setup and its really unbelievable how much it lowered the noise floor!
Would love to hear that. Those speakers were the first ( I’ll never be able to own those) dreams I had ever seen as a young man, and one of the many gateway drugs that drew me to this hobby. Enjoy
I am biased but man those flagship Pioneer receivers are about as cool as it can get, and a quad setup ( my brother has quad Marantz) is as bad to the bone vintage as it gets. IMHO.
Guy posts great pictures of his system and solicits no feedback. Forum busybodies proceed to lecture him about everything he is doing “wrong.”
Yes, I was thinking that too! Give the guy time, as he has said, they are remodeling. Fantastic system he got there.
The Oppo players really were game changers as far as quad goes. Having a high quality preamp built into it means all I needed to add was a 4 channel power amp, a box to switch the front channels between the SX-1280 and the 4 channel power amp, and then another box to switch the front speakers between the two amps.
And remember, treatments tend to fail spectacularly in the WAF. I take a lot of bullets in that regard. I could start an entire thread on bric-à-brac, tchotchkes, and Christmas decorations on my system.
I Know right... Added an old oriental rug we've had for years. It doesn't "fit" the room color or style - just a temporary tweak. I'll go back to being a lurker now.
Oh, please. This is so wrong. The room and its resonances typically contribute more to the sound than gear does. That being said, some rooms need more treatment than others, and sometimes furniture, rugs, and drapes will do the trick without much specially constructed acoustic material. But it necessitates attention and concern, no matter what equipment one has.
I don't agree. Especially suggesting treatments from looking at a photo. No amount of treatment can overcome quality of gear.
I've got the FX2 X0e Low Frequency Filter Module. Offers more filtering than your model. They sell the low frequency filter as an add on option, so you can just plug it into your Thingee.
Perhaps no amount of treatment can “overcome quality of gear” but even the highest quality of gear can benefit from a properly treated room.
