My system is all streaming, from compressed/uncompressed rips of CD's, to Spotify. Everything comes through a Logitech Media Server feeding a Raspberry Pi w/ HiFiBerry card (running piCorePlayer). My speakers were built by myself, they are what some people these days call FAST, or Full-range And Subwoofer Technology. My satellites clamp to the back of the walnut side tables (also built by me) and use Faital 3FE22 drivers. My subs use 10" GRS units in cabinets about 1.2-cubic feet, with one sub sitting under each side table. My piCorePlayer stereo output feeds a small Rolls electronic crossover, which then feeds two SMSL amplifiers. Each SMSL amplifier is powered by a separate fanless Mean Well 36V 6A DC supply. I designed this system so it could fit into our small living room somewhat unobtrusively. For years my understanding wife put up with a living room that was listening room first, and living room 2nd. Once the kids were older and in relationships, I thought my wife deserved her living room back. While I didn't want the stereo to take too much room, I didn't want to sacrifice quality or compromise on higher SPL. I've been a hifi nut since I was ten or twelve years old (I've 52 now), when I built my first pair of speakers using Peerless drivers purchased from Sound State in the Bayshore mall here in the Milwaukee area. I've had everything from JBL 43-series speakers to KEF 105's and all sorts inbetween. Electronics from Carver to Crown to Threshold, I've gone through a lot of gear. And I can honestly say this system will give any of my previous setups a run for their money. Especially because this system was such an economical build. Not for everyone but I feel it sounds great and is a blast.
Hahahah, I've just moved house. My current chair is a detached recliner from our lounge suite Gotta get the important things setup first Unpacking can wait!
Order of importance when moving in to a new place: Get electricity Get the stereo set up Get internet access set up Buy beer Unpack everything else
It's been a bit since I've posted and I've changed a few things up this past year. Overall VPI Prime turntable Dynavector 20x2-H cartridge iFi nano DSD DAC (l) Lounge Audio LCR MKIII phono preamp (r) Matrix Mini-i DAC (b) PrimaLuna ProLogue Three preamp

A few pictures from my stereo setup, which I upgraded in 2/2018 I must place the speakers close the wall, Wilson Duette 2 was the only choice. The Magico Q1 is also a great mini speaker. The bass is awesome for this small size, but I can't move the Magico close to the wall like the Duette. The speakers powered by Nagra amplifiers (tubes/solid state). The combo sounds so musical, without the colored sound, I’m used from tube design. Perfect for my personal preferences. Digital playback is emmLabs and dCS (not in use right now). Both SACD players are on the same level. The dCS has a slightly better playback of micro details, the emmLabs offer slightly better midrange and bottom end. I use MIT loudspeaker cables, and MIT and Siltech interconnects. I use Hifiman HE1000 V2 and Sennheiser HD 800 headphones, powered by Lehmannaudio amp. The Hifiman is a world-class headphone for every music style. I take the Sennheiser only for jazz or small classical ensembles. Great for listening of micro details. Shunyata Research power conditioner and power cords on all audio components. The rack is a finite elemente Master Reference with custom made shelves. I also use Symposium Acoustic Quantum platform, Nagra cones (amps), Stillpoint cones (digital) and a Symposium Acoustic Svelte platform (power conditioner). My oldest component is a Pioneer blu-ray player, placed below my tv. Player and tv stand on a finite elemente Signature rack. Vibex power conditioner and power cables. My room looks like a shoe box. No boomy effects, and the delay is almost perfect. When my dealer installed my gear, he was impressed by the room acoustics. The roller blind is a must to avoid the bad effects of the windows.
Verrrry nice system, congrats! do some tube roll in the PrimaLuna 3 and in the Six as well (pre tubes). this will elevate the amps to the next level guaranteed!
Updated my setup. Added a 3rd Parasound a23. Replaced my Pioneer SC-95 with Marantz AV8801. Like it a lot so far playing in 6.1. May be one day I will have the room to host a setup similar to that on the tv......
Thank you I did a few changes in the last days... I changed the interconnects from the player to preamp 2C3D Level One Audio Interconnect | MIT Cables and I also placed Nagra VFS / VFS L | Nagra - Professional Audio and High end HiFi below the pre- and power amp
That's a sweet system you've assembled there, Claus. Elegant, minimal and I'm sure it fills the room nicely.
