Right, this is the first one I have owned. Nice to be able to support British industry for once. The bean counters must have looked at selling to the U.S.
This post as well as your two previous posts are my favorite posts this year. Just made me smile. You're a lucky man.
I had a very similar experience over the last couple of years. Was divorced a couple of years ago. In my old life I had the HiFi in the living room as well as a small room system. Remarried last month to a wonderful woman who, like me, is a social services professional. I still love my music and HiFi but priorities have shifted and our living room is for living. I have a small dedicated room for HiFi and that is more than enough. My wife's family welcomed me with open arms and they are everything to me.
Life does throw us all unexpected curves. I went through a divorce after 36 years and wow, does that change life's picture. I got mine from Amazon in the US for like 20 bucks, its not bad, but takes hours to heat up, and is a bit cloudy. Still better than not having one though...
MORE COWBELL PLEASE. We are falling way behind the race to have junk to show each other in our rooms. This is Ocean Way Studio A. The only more cluttered room I have seen was something Steve Guttenberg posted on YouTube. Aren't all those knobs simply wonderful? Don't you wish YOU had such knobs? MORE COWBELL PLEASE.
How long does it take to heat up, i.e. to get the lava moving? I noticed that the life span is 2000 hours. I keep a log on my tube use, and I can see that I run my system about 2000 hours per year. But I guess I wouldn't be using the lava lamp for special listening sessions. And not much during summer, so maybe ...
