Great spread, you have there. Nice to see you enjoying Morricones Giu La Testa. A marvellous soundtrack.
Latest edition the analog family, a Townshend Rock 7 with a Helius Silver Ruby Tonearm, cartridge is the Van Den Hul Grasshopper III GLA:
d Very unique and cool. Never seen or heard of that TT before. I suppose the contraption on the front is designed to help with stability???
That trough is there to dampen any resonances at the cartridge head. It is basically thick goopy silicone in there...really lets the tonearm/cartridge to truly shine through without any weird vibrations that shouldn't be there. Pretty clever design actually...
Nice choice! I've enjoyed a Townshend Rock Mk III for 20 years now. Same trough, outrigger and bearing only mine is built on a Seismic Sink. Great table!! If I ever need to replace it I would probably go with this table. Enjoy it.
I owned and set up a couple of Well Tempered tables in the past. They also new the benefits of using silicone.
Yep. it's new and made for cds/dvds. It looks nice, but I'm kind of disappointed with the quality. The outside is solid wood, but the inside of the drawers are super flimsy, almost like balsa wood. Here's where I got it: http://www.wayfair.com/Leslie-Dame-Enterprises-Library-Style-Multimedia-Cabinet-CD-456-LE1086.html
As of today, my single arm VPI TNT 6 turntable has been converted to a dual arm setup. I sense a nice mono cartridge in my future!
