I was 13 the year my dad bought this Marantz. It was a big deal around our house. Remember it like it was yesterday.....in part because I got the hand-me-down Marantz 2245 the next day.

My current music maker. Forced to a diagonal room placement for small space but very happy none the less. Sweet spot nirvana. Old Pioneers on the bottoms for support only, poor man's Wilson Watt Puppies. o_O

I decided to upgrade my rear speakers to improve my experience when listening to surround sound music, including quadraphonic vinyl. The speakers' DSP will be calibrated next week, and then I'll test them out on a wide range of material.

Man, I just LOVED these old Marantz receivers. In 1973, I worked for Delphi Custom Stereo on La Cienega in LA. I was surrounded by these units when they were new (and the Quad receivers as well). I bought a Kenwood for myself but always regretted not picking up a 2270 at dealer cost. Now, they're too expensive to find one in 100%. I make due with modern Marantz integrateds (have three in three systems between two homes) but other than having a remote control, they have little on the fabulous looks of those vintage Marantz receivers. Lovey unit you have, Carter.

Great story! Yeah man, I’m extremely fortunate to have this one as a family heirloom and grateful for the love of music my father instilled. Thanks for the reply!

@Ironclaw - where did you get your moveable absorption panels and stands?

    GIK

~ $60 per normal acoustic panel (~ $50 for stand) or $110 total per panel w/ stand
Bass panels are ~ $30 more per panel

A little pricy but the sound improvement is crazy. Build quality is very good.

    Plus you can decorate them.

Excellent - thanks! I have mine mounted to the wall, but they are not in optimal positions as there is a door where one needs to one placed. I'm thinking a mobile one (pair) is just the ticket.

Other thing I got for my listening room is a fake wood stove space heater. It’s metal except for the legs and looks like the real deal. I lurv it. $67 at WalMart.

Don’t have the heating element on when playing cause the low noise.

Download the app imgur. Post a photo on the app. Click the over arrow. Click the open in chrome option. Click on the photo and select open photo option. Copy url of the opened photo. Paste into image icon on this thread. There’s probly an easier way.

It seems I've now posted on imgur, but it doesn't seem to copy to this thread.

I'm really slow with any tech that's new to me - which is why I'm trying to post a photo of my 1973 Rig!

Ironclaw schooled me on how to post photos!

About ten days ago, I assembled this "1973" rig.

This forum's members were (and are) awesome answering all my questions.

The rig is working great - now I have to beautify the area.
