Thank's! I'm still waiting AN turntable to have a complete setup though Gyrodec is doing a great job. DAC and step up are behind the closed doors.
I think that the 93 year old woman - who owned the home before me - watched that Magnavox until her (or its) demise.
I lived in an apartment and enjoyed angry neighbor free listening, also learned to enjoy near field low level listening, one of the best audio experiences I’ve ever had. Most new modern complexes are built like beach condos with thick concrete levels. Sorry just trying to save that beautiful system
Thanks, Manimal! Yes, I believe it can be done and I know many people have done so very successfully. But, you know..., when you've lived with someone for 45 years, and when they've been your primary listening partner all that time, and when they've helped you choose the equipment on which your audio listening is based, and then when that person says "It's time to move on and make a change; the audio equipment we have can't come with us to an apartment" well... you have to listen and make a decision that accommodates them. She's accommodated me in this hobby for all of these years, and she's been my primary listening partner, and she loves this system as much as I do. So, this is the time when I accommodate her without pushback. We'll continue to listen together, as we always have, but now it will be with matching headphones. And it will be a lovely system at that! Pictures perhaps to come...
Good for your, always put people over possessions. The impact that 7,000 lp’s and that system has on any living space is substantial. A great accomplishment but moving on makes sense for most people at some point. I would keep a turntable and some small speakers.
Local audio club members bought a thousand or so; I've held out 100 that I will sell on Discogs; the rest went to a records wholesaler who came with a large van and took them all away. I didn't try to make money on selling them - the only way to do that is to retail them yourself and that's not the way I wanted to spend my next 10 years.
Baby proof Family room system update. I need to replace the one HDMI cable that's too short to the TV to clean it up a little. I need to get a proper HDMI switching receiver here before I hide the cables in the wall. The Dish Joey is going to disappear very soon and the Blu-Ray player will move over on top of the Christmas CD changer. Huge problem here actually. I have preamp out going through an ethernet adapter to an amp in the basement for some in-ceiling speakers in the kitchen (rear surrounds). The in-ceiling speaker hums like a SOB when the Pioneer Elite receiver is switched off. When it's on the hum goes away. The Marantz SR-7500 receiver that was just replaced did not have this problem. Nasty issue. Wish me luck tracking it down.
Some rearranging of my 'man cave'! Picked up a Kallax for my vinyl as I begin to collect it (again). Stillneed some wall hangings, etc, but its a very cozy spot and im quite happy with the progress so far
Jammin some NPR Jazz at the moment but super cramp is cued up. Took the cover off my TT cover for my dog. Sub is powered up and thumping some amazing Jazz. Oh and I’m cooking in da kitchen with a cold beer. Red stripe night. Peace brothers and sisters.
