I suppose. Truth be known I spend more time in the garage than in the hut so I've been slowly improving that system. Unfortunately keeping the equipment up and away and safe from my woodworking and auto modifying hobbies has put constraints on the positioning of the speakers.

The open corner does seem to act like a huge bass treatment device but has not altered the sound nearly as much as one might expect, who wants symmetry .
As far as comparing the past system to the present, it's really hard to give a detailed description as many years and many systems have come and gone since then, not to mention a very different room. The old system did have superior bass, which made it a great system for rock music, don't think i've heard the thunder on AC/DC's Thunderstruck reproduced with the same authority and realism since. :hide:

An engineer friend said the sub was jeopardizing the integrity of the building, lol.

Oops, I realized that the pictures I posted in my last post did not work. Let me try this. Please let me know if you are unable to see them. This is my Technics after I upgraded the tonearm wire and RCAs using KAB products and put heat shrink over the tonearm. It makes one heck of a difference. Immediate, drastic, and incredible difference. Puts this table into an entirely different league. I highly recommend performing this or getting Kevin to do it for you at KAB. I am going to post a how-to thread on this upgrade soon.

The directors chair lives under the Rothko, in the background, when not in use. Note iPad mini open on table and computer top popped open just to the left of the rack. Must have been listening to digits when I took this pic.

Also the Maggies being dipoles/bipoles, five feet off the wall, they fill the space with this open, airy sound even when not sitting in the chair for critical listening. Once you pull the chair out and sit,........ imaging, focus and depth are there.

those red cloth monoliths? *insanely* cool.... nice softening/dampening/absorption pieces. i rarely get interested in acoustical treatments, but those...

I was so close to a similar system, went with EAR, Sonus Faber. It was mainly the lack of a flat back wall and corners in my room, but I do remember how great it sounded.
