Jimi was masterful with the outros. Here's one of my favorites from about 2:50 on.

The Beach Boys have many classic examples. I tried to include a YouTube clip for "A Day in the Life of a Tree", but couldn't find it. I used to sort of overlook that song due to Jack Reilly's vocals, but I've really grown to love it and that final outro with Van Dyke Parks and Al Jardine coming through is just heartbreaking. I also love the "Child is the Father" reprise at the end of the '71 "Surf's Up" and the dreamy "hey baba riba" close to "Vegetables".

Heart - Magazine, from the original LP release, at the 6-minute mark. The hazy, psychedelic outro, culminating with a lick from "Crazy on You" is sublime and sadly missing on the later, band-sanctioned release.

^^^One of the greats! I always wished that the Stones had done more epic jams like that.

  25. Another vote for "Achilles' Last Stand". That final ostinato melody played by Jimmy Page at the very end is both hypnotic and sublime for me. Another ultra-terrific outro is the one for this song (starting at 3:13):
