She spent the last 50 years in the US. Maybe that's what threw me.
She is a US citizen now, BTW.

 

Yes, she is a US citizen, and her career (the part of it she is famous for anyway) is an American one.

She holds dual citizenship, and was quoted in a 2006 article in the Ottawa Citizen (posted on jonimitchell.com) as saying "L.A. is my workplace, B.C. is my heartbeat."

 

I hope she has one year for every one of her guitar tunings left.

My prayers for Joni to have a speedy recovery

 

Hoping for a full and fast recovery. Joni's words and music (and recordings) have provided me with unknown hours of contemplation, apprection and pleasure. I miss the times when Joni would deliver a new album every year of two. She have given much to many people with her music and art.

 

Joni is still in intensive care, but her people say she is "awake and in good spirits." We've learned she had a surgical procedure some time after arriving at the hospital on Tuesday.

Joni, we love you and wish you a quick and complete recovery. Besides the 50 years of chain smoking, I remember her saying that polio victims like her often have problems with their bodies breaking down as they age. I have never ranked "the best concert I went to" but her at Jones Beach, NY circa 1983 ranks high.
