First of all, many thanks to you for compiling this list and to all who have participated in the thread! Awesome work! I notice it hasn't been updated in awhile. Any plans to update the list, Downsampled?

I just messaged the member who originally posted that title: Can you verify which CD you are referring to please?
I wonder if the early Portrait (RK 38999) had pre-emph applied but not flagged – it's so damn trebly.
From what I recall, the early WG silver center VU pressing didn't have PE, but that at some point the flag was added and remained. But, without any change to the audio, so one is incorrect. My opinion, after comparing the CDs to the vinyl, is that the PE flag is an error.
Here is something unique (at least I don't see any others on this list), a CD where some tracks have pre-emphasis... Masters of Classical Music, Vol. 2: Johan Sebastian Bach - Laserlight 15 802 Tracks 5,6,10,14 have pre-emphasis per the TOC (confirmed with Detect TOC Manually). The rest do not.
Classical music compilations are going to have that happen. Labels like Laserlight don't remaster the reissued recordings. If they do a compilation release and some of the pieces had preemphasis and some did not then the Laserlight release is going to have a mix of pre-emphasis tracks and regular tracks. I have one classical album that's not a compilation that includes a mix of pre-emphasis and regular tracks: Petrouchka with Gerard Schwarz and the Seattle Symphony on Delos D/CD 3054 released in 1988 The first two tracks have no pre-emphasis The rest of the tracks have pre-emphasis
Here is a new one... The Digital Domain: A Demonstration - Elektra 9 60303-2 All tracks except 18-21, 23, 25-29 (which are test tones) Tracks 22 and 24 are pink noise "with emphasis" Tracks 21 and 23 are the same without emphasis. Good for testing.
Howard Jones - Human's Lib Elektra 9 60346-2 WEA 2 40335-2 Indicated in TOC Matrix: MANUFACTURED BY SANYO JAPAN 60346-2 511241
Crap Steve add another one Electric Light Orchestra-Secret Messages ZK38490 US the "Now Made In The USA" dbpoweramp flagged it
Another was just flagged Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark- Architecture & Morality, CDID12, part of the UK Virgin box of three OMD titles
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells 32VD-1010, 2nd Japanese “Black Triangle” pressing, Matrix:32VD-1010 11+++++ (Sony) Peak levels: 93,0% / 100% BTW Very easily detectable in any EAC version. Flagged in both TOC and subcode and shows the tag immediately.
Got a copy of Journey Escape that is a different pressing but does have pre-emphasis Journey - Escape - CBS CK37408, matrix DIDP 050006 Packaging says "Record Manufactured in Japan by CBS" but disc is Made in U.S.A. Pre-emphasis is indicated in TOC
Okay, I hate to post this in this thread, I am not trying to perpetrate FUD but.... I have just started out checking all my cds for pre-emphasis and hit a snag. I have a "The Dark Side Of The Moon" CD, CP35-3017 20A2 / CDP7 46001 2 / BIEM/JASRAC that does not indicate pre-emphasis in EAC, K3b, or cdparanoia. I am the original owner of this CD and do not doubt that it is authentic. Now what? Every site I checked sez this is pre-emphasized but I can't prove it.
Have you tried adding emphasis to the ripped files and seeing if it improves the sound? Or simply listening to the ripped files, comparing the sound to the CD? If your CD does not have pre-emphasis, the two should sound the same.
