Empire continues to impress in the ratings. The episode last night got a 4.3 (up from 4.0 last week), it's the highest rated drama telecast in over a year.

It's been time to let go of SVU a decade plus is way too much for any
show. It was good the first 6 yrs then it's become too much.
Criminal minds is past it's expiration date. It's become rather sick.

The whole point of Criminal Minds is the murder porn. What I find disgusting is all the mushy character development, I don't care about the FBI agents' personal lives and back stories. They need to concentrate on crimes, profiling and investigation. This is the downfall of most police procedurals, when it becomes more about the cop soap opera than the crime of the week.

One of these days you'll realize that shows stay on the air as long as THEY KEEP MAKING MONEY. That's the only criteria that matters to the studio. Supernatural is going on season 11 next year, I lost interest in it around season 4...but it's still making money, so it will continue to get renewed until it no longer makes money. Doesn't mean I'm forced to watch it.

Disagree. Season 9 was really a return to form, and what I've seen of S10 so far, just as good.

I occasionally worked on the show and found it really a bizarre, disturbing series. For what it is, it's pretty well done and the acting is good, but jesus, they've got some real sick puppies as adversaries, just awful stuff.

I also occasionally worked on Supernatural on and off for a couple of years, and while it's not my cuppa tea, the people who do the show have a lot of fun and the actors have great chemistry together. I'll say this for them: they don't take the show seriously and it's pretty funny on occasion, so it's not heavy, gross, or too stupid. The best episode I ever did was the "Real Ghostbusters" segment that started out as a reality show -- I fell down laughing at a couple of those scenes. I understand why the show does as well as it does.

For the record, Criminal Minds got a lot more exploitive and disgusting later in the run of the show, probably like season 7 or so is when it seemed to take a much more sadistic turn and I bailed on it.

I like Supernatural and one of the primary reasons is because they don't take it too seriously. They take a well worn genre like horror and just run with it, throwing in every reference imaginable with reckless abandon...and it's fun! I eventually felt like it became a little too ponderous, but the first several seasons are really, really well done. In a nod to The X-Files they would also occasionally throw in a overtly comic, ridiculous episode (like the Real Ghostbusters episode Vidiot mentioned), those are always worth checking out. You have to give the show credit for longevity, it's so old it originally aired on The WB and is coming back for season 11 next year. It's nice to see a genre show with that long of a run.

They should combine Supernatural with Red Band Society, and the ghost-finding heroes search for the dead teenagers from the hospital. A perfect crossover episode.

New episodes on a Saturday night? That's surely them just burning off eps in the can for a show that's already a casualty and won't be renewed.

NBC just renewed the following drama series:

    The Blacklist
    Chicago Fire
    Chicago P.D.
    Law & Order: SVU
    Grimm

My hat is off to Grimm, most everybody predicted that show would be cancelled within the first couple episodes, now getting ready for season 5.

Funny about Grimm. I never, ever see any of those actors on talk shows or late night being interviewed.

Bitsie Tulloch has been on Craig Ferguson.

Not many late night talk shows, but if you search for the various cast members on youtube you'll find a lot of interviews. I guess NBC doesn't see the need to promote a Friday night genre show.
