My box set showed up to Pennsylvania from Amazon Canada 3 days earlier than expected and in perfect condition.

 

Splendid.

 

HMV Canada has been selling this mono LP box set for $299.00 now for over year or more....

 

It was under $100 when the link was posted.

That must have felt like 1,500 home runs....

 

I do feel like I have joined an elite club now that I own this box set.

I also got caught up in last week's $92 CDN Beatles Mono Vinyl Box mania. WHAT A DEAL! As soon as I saw this thread I immediately logged into Amazon and entered all the order info with lightning speed. I was about to click on the "buy" button when I thought, "Hey wait a minute. I already have this."

 

Damn, missed that one!!!!!!!!!

I'm battling with Amazon.ca over this now. Ordered two mono box sets at the $92.00 price and they were in stock. Received a email with confirmation numbers. Now the orders are showing cancelled. Not good enough when you order something in good faith.

 

Did they charge you and keep your money after cancellation?

 

I don't believe so. Never saw anything showing in my bank accounts, but they had the option.

 

I'm afraid it's likely a losing battle, then. When a retailer posts a product, even one that's in stock, for sale, and the buyer shows up ready to pay, there's no enforceable contract. The retailer can refuse the sale, and Amazon in this instance likely made a pricing error. Even if you did have an enforceable contract, your remedy wouldn't be specific performance (meaning, to force a sale of the Beatles mono box at the posted price). Rather, your remedy would be to return you to your position prior to the breach of contract. In this case, since no money was exchanged, Amazon would owe you nothing.

As a matter of customer service, they might offer you something for your trouble, but that will probably be a small amount credited to your account, and not a shipment of the Beatles in Mono at what is probably a loss for them.

 

Actually, I just realized you're in Canada. The contract principles I'm writing of above apply in most US jurisdictions, but I have no idea what the Canadian rules are.

 

I also ordered around a dozen other albums the same day at great prices. Many have been cancelled so it's not just the Beatles box that they made a mistake on. Im not done with this yet.

 

If anyone receives one of the Mono Box sets from Amazon,ca for $92.00 let me know.

 

Sorry for you all. This time, I didn't even bother trying to order the Beatles Mono Vinyl Box since it was clearly a price mistake and I knew Amazon.ca would cancel the order...
